Ricky Hatton: Collazo is a horrible fight for Khan

Collazo is a good fighter, past his best days but good none the less. It would be interesting to be able to get a better insight into why he was chosen as an opponent.
Khan was playing a waiting game for Mayweather,he turned down an easier fight IMO against Alexander where he could have picked up a title and had far less downside as a result. Now after all the cautious safety first policy he is on the Mayweather undercard against a tough opponent. It is a complete 180* and makes me think Mayweather dictated the fight. After his last 2 poor showings and safety first waiting game strategy taking this fight is out of character of his recent management policy.Comment

I am not sure why people think Collazo is some sort of killer. He is a solid all around fighter. A fringe contender with good abilities but nothing outstanding. He has snap to his shots, but is not a powerful puncher. Has decent hand speed and good defense.
If Khan cannot beat him, He should give up looking to be a champion. It is not like Collazo is a world beater.Comment

I agree with you but it is relative to Khan's recent outings which have been poor by which Collazo is being measured. Compared to Molina and Diaz Collazo is much more formidable. Right now Khan s thinking more about getting a Mayweather fight than becoming champion. If that was his priority he would have fought Alexander.I am not sure why people think Collazo is some sort of killer. He is a solid all around fighter. It's pretty obvious why he turned down the Alexander fight. Simply because he was promised the Mayweather fight and any kind of injury or cut in the Alexander fight might have scuppered that. Especially given that he doesn't fight in September so it was his only chance to face Mayweather this year.Collazo is a good fighter, past his best days but good none the less. yeah khan has real good footworkKhan has terrible footwork. Footwork, defense and ring IQ are boxing ability, a lot more so than fast hands. So, you can definitely doubt his boxing ability.
He's got big heart, fast hands, decent power and he's very big for all his divisions so far, but he lacks boxing ability a great deal.,
the way he constantly backs up to the ropes and gets the ring cut off on him by guys like chino, the way he takes steps either too small or too big, the fact that he places his feet that don't give him the right angles, the way that he's off balance after moving his feet.Last edited by Richard Wadd; 04-02-2014, 11:36 AM.Comment
