Is Keith Thurman a credible opponent for Floyd Mayweather Jr's next fight?

    Poll on the way.

I can already see the "Floyd's ducking him like the plague" posts, so lets get the public opinion.

For me personally, I don't know.

Not sure. We haven't seen Thurman in with a slickster, he needs a bit more polishing IMO

No not all,, hasn't done enough

Needs to beat Julio Diaz, and then a high profile name like ghost, Maidana, porter, and he needs to look dominant in the wins... Then I could see him possibly as an opponent for Floyd in 2015

Of course not. He has no top level wins and is fighting Julio Diaz next. Maybe next May he will have strung together a better run.

He needs to get a fight with someone in the top 10.

No one seems to want to fight him.

If he can get someone like Guererro, Alexander or ideally a title holder, then that will be a good fight.

Problem is, say Floyd beats Maidana, he'll have two of the belts, the other one will be the Pacquaio-Bradley winner and the other one will be the Porter-Pauli winner who is mandated to fight Brook in July.

So basically, it's impossible for him to get a belt at this point in his next fight after Diaz.

Hopefully he can fight the winner of the Pauli/Porter/Brook mix, if he wins that then maybe he could fight Floyd next May perhaps?

Absolutely not, not yet anyway. KT has a ways to go.

Look we all know who Floyd should be fighting. Its just not going to happen. Time may be better spent discussing fights that can actually be made.

                    IMO, No. Just no.

I just think he would be confused, frustrated, and potentially KOed. I say that well aware of Floyd's KO record.

People are in the mood to throw poor Thurman to the wolves today. Thurman - Floyd, Canelo, Maidana (, or Manny). Yikes. Let's just get him by a couple of credible 'B' level guys first. He still has a huge amount of room to grow, and seems like he'll be a good, even great, champion, but throwing him in the ring with people a solid two class levels above him is just cruel.
