Danny was deaf and pissing blood after that bout according to his own family. Matthysse caught a bad break with the eye, he was well up before that. Garcia's in no hurry to get back in with him.

This. A few months ago there seemed to be a lot of people who seemed to to think Adonis was some superior, master boxer and Kovalev was the slow plodder.

Adonis is very basic. Kovalev is much more well rounded and the far better boxer, IMO

With that being said...on the plus side, Kovalev went more rounds....still got the ko win...showed why Super Pvssy Stevenson ran like a b¡tch to his new momma Haymon...

I suspect it's the risk of what could effectively be a career ending (at his age) loss vs the money on the table in the Bell Centre in Montreal. I really like Kovalev, and I think this fight may encourage him to invest more in the body early and to explore adding a uppercut to his game (at least for defensively minded high guard fighters), but I do see Adonis a favourite if they meet in the next 12 - 18 months. Mind you they both have KO power and it could easily go either way.

I didn't mind Agnew's performance. I've seen worse on HBO and Sho. He's a decent, if not elite, fighter with good skills. "Don't trade and try to take Kovalev deep" wasn't a bad plan. Kovalev was cut and breathing hard.

At no point in that fight was Matthysse "well up." He was clearly beaten by a better fighter. That **** was last year, get over it.

A Hopkins/Kovalev fight is moot anyway because Hopkins won't tangle with Marciano reincarnate. And, even if he did, Hopkin's is just too old to handle that volume of power ****ing on his arms, torso, back, and head.

Ward may very well fight Sergei. While Ward has some wile, he's no a puncher at 168, will he have a better punch at 175? No. Ward won't have enough with his head butts, low blows, and holding. The constant pounding from the heavy artillery will likely cause him to attempt a retreat and suffer for it.

Perhaps the 10 punches that Agnew did manage to land will inspire Stevenson to make the fight happen.

I just rewatched a few rounds. Kovalev is showing versatility in his punching.

Kovalev could KO the entire division in one night and you would still be posting the same thing. Lol
