Kovalev was clearly flustered by the low blows, headbutts, and roughhouse tactics. If Agnew was able to fluster him, what would Ward or Hopkins do???

That's the funny thing. Kovalev-Stevenson, which everybody is focused on, really isn't that interesting. That comes down to who lands the biggest shot first. I suspect it would be Kovalev, but who knows?

Kovalev, because of his punching power, is a dangerous opponent for anybody, but I think Ward and Hopkins give him a lot of problems and nothing we've seen in any of his fights has convinced me that he would have an answer for them.

Thats a premature statement,he needs to prove himself against better opposition,gabriel campillo,cornelius white,and cleverly,thos kind of opponents cant grant you that lineage when theres fighters like hopkins,still around....i wouldnt mind seeing him in the ring with dswson,pascal,or even tavoris cloud,cause iam not impressed with him beating over matched opponents..

All I can say is that it seems that Kovalev gets a lot of power in his punches in a pretty short distance.

This, but I'd change your first sentence to "Decent win against an underestimated fighter who came to win." Agnew deserves credit for his effort, but he didn't turn his defense into offense, something that better, more experienced fighters will certainly do. It's also worth noting that Agnew's defense was quite basic - too basic. While it gave Kovalev problems early in the fight, which was surprising to me, I can guarantee you that better fighters are not simply going to languish along the ropes with their hands held high. They're going to use lateral movement, pay more attention to distance (something Agnew never tried to control), and smother Kovalev when necessary.

Frankly, I'm a little surprised it took Kovalev half a fight to target the body on a fighter who was holding his hands so high. He's definitely strong and hits like a mule, but the level of opposition is making it very easy to overlook his shortcomings. Unfortunately that doesn't look like it's going to change any time soon given the network situation.

Yeah, good point,, I can those guys getting him fired up after a few rounds of their roughhouse tactics and throwing nothing but bombs, but tires from it and gets taken to deep waters and drowned,, he seems to fight on emotion which is a bad thing and will get u gassed

AD wins by KO. Can we stop overrating a fighters power? Kovalev is not some boogey man. What happened to Matthysse? The same bull***** was said, overrating his power. Kovalev is a good fighter, but c'mon.

Kovalev and LMM are different fighters. Evaluate them on their own merits and stop acting like Kovalev is just another LMM just because of the power similarities.

I think Kovalev's effort tonight probably gets him KO'd against Stevenson. He was getting countered with some big shots. Good chin or not. Stevenson has some special power. I somewhat disagree with you that Stevenson-Kovalev is merely "who lands first." I think both will land and land big. I think it comes down to who can take who's power better.
