Do you know if Showtime signed him to a deal or is this fight by fight? The only deal I know is Mayweather's 6 fight plan

So, again, I ask all my boxingscene businessmen; EXACTLY how much more is Stevenson making with Hopkins than will Kovalev?
Why does it even matter? He's fighting Fonfara now instead of a lucrative showdown with Kovalev. This needless interim fight with fonfara is a duck, if he was all about the money like he says he could be making 10x more right now fighting Kovalev. HBO fudged up by agreeing to air that doubleheader without an agreement for this fight but they didn't realize how scared superwomen was

As of right now, it's just this, but they supposedly going to work on a multi deal later.

If he keeps this business mentality, I don't see why he wouldn't try to put himself up for bidding again..... actually, not doing that makes no sense since that's the only fight HBO wants and the reason they didn't bother with Fonfara

Only reason I see is a safety net. Even if he loses to Hopkins, he gets Showtime fights compared to going to HBO one time for money and they don't bother with him any more after

I was thinking the exact same thing. This seems like a leverage move to me especially if he can crush B Hop and then really put the fight up for bidding between HBO/Show, it's a fight everyone wants now and will only get bigger if they keep winning.

Not my ideal situation personally but I'm just a keyboard warrior, sooooo

What don't you understand about the fact that Haymon/Stevenson REFUSED to accept a Kovalev fight so that's why HBO didn't match Showtime's offer?

It had nothing to do with Showtime's money. Get that out of your dense little head. Do you really think that Showtime's pockets are deeper than HBO's?? I mean seriously.

Do you really believe that HBO couldn't match a Stevenson - Fonfara fight offer? Haymon would only negotiate for one fight. That's it. He refused to even consider a Kovalev fight even if HBO gave Haymon/Stevenson the world.

You can't possibly be this ****** yet making fun of my username at the same time. I go through this every time with you. It's beginning to be a bit annoying.
You're the one sounding ****** bro. He just said showtime outbid HBO. He knows why HBO let themselves be out bid. He didn't say Hbo didn't have enough money or HBO Couldn't afford to bid more. Why do you always get wrapped up in these little semantics anyway it makes you look like a complete tool?

No one really gives a crap about the wbo belt.
If he cared about money he could be fighting kovalev right now for millions instead of fonfara for 300,000.

Millions? Maybe a little over a mill when it's all said and done.

                • I think this thread is missing the point about how much more money is one fight over then next.

This is why.... Kovalev could literally crush Stevenson which would dry up his options and take away his belt/leverage you earn more money the more fights you win therefore the risk of taking a fight you well could lose even if for more money doesn't outweigh the reward of maybe lesser/equal money but better odds.

Stephenson was going to get 2.5 million plus small % of gate for KOvalev fight. Kovalev agreed to get $1.5 million flat.

Stephenson is getting $1.25 million for Fonfara fight on SHO.He was gettin $1 million for that fight on HBO.

Stephenson will get $1.75-$2 million for the B-Hop fight if fight is at Barclays. He will get slightly over $2 million for this fight if it is in Canada.

I'd have taken an advisor or manager before agreeing to fight Kovalev in the first place. As it stands, Supertramp flat out ran away from a promise. Not even his own promotor defends him!
