Is the art of inside fighting being taught less and less? i have seen when fights gets close, some fighters seem lost and just clinch instead of fighting on the inside

It really is. The amateur system is now set up to flat out ignore, actually discourage, inside fighting.

An inside game today seems to consist of clinching, pushing off and getting the **** out of there. That's an inside game today.

so true. Speaking strictly for the US amatuer system, It would be nice if the floyd's, roy's and others spent more time with USA boxing to help young fighters develop this skill. THis was one of the reasons the US used to be so successful in amatuer boxing.

judges respond more to activity now
fighters are conscious of being more TV friendly
infighting often looks bad to judges and its effects are undermined
guys must not be getting trained to fight that way so as not to look ugly

That's why I don't get it when people put so much emphasis on being able to move. Lara and Rigo, they say, are good. How are they good when they don't take risks and can only fight at a distance? Moving forward and throw punches at the same time is even harder. Look at Trout's fight with Lara. The poor guy was forced to fight in a style foreign to him. He could just have stuck with his style that's similar to Lara's, but he couldn't take their fight getting booed for lack of activity. He looked so awkward chasing Lara.

they're not rare. you just need to look in the lower weight divisions, it's everywhere especially up and comers, they start off using purely inside game.

You think inside fighting is ugly but clinching/hugging isn't?

so true and i dont think people will ever truely realize that

guys like rigo and lara will never push forward, there is no fight if you dont go to them, they will atmost potshot you when you are standing still then retreat to the shell of defensive boxing

these guys are super skilled yet both barely know how to create offense as shown with rigondeaux vs agbeko
