As I recall, when Barker pressured Martinez in the eleventh, that was when Martinez got the chance to flurry on him and knock him out. Chavez got hit with large rallies from Martinez whenever he pressured him. In the Murray fight, Martinez was injured. In the Pavlik fight, Pavlik coming forward gave Martinez the chance to tear his face up. Dzinziruk got destroyed trying to be aggressive. Guys who pressure Martinez have a history of getting hit back hard in return. The guys who have the most success are those who stay back and box Martinez. It's how Macklin gave him trouble. It's how Barker, at times, gave him trouble (I think, not sure). If Cotto comes forward, Martinez will hit him with the same straight to the body that Trout used. Difference is, Martinez is a very hard puncher at middleweight. Trout is a soft puncher at junior middleweight.
Fighting in the pocket with your hands up is not pressuring. There's a huge difference between what those guys did and what fighters like Cotto do. They take away your space. Those guys martinez fought never tried to take away his space, they werent trying to fight him inside. There is a difference.

My point was that Cotto looked out of shape and Diaz and him had some sort of falling out because of what went on during training. And because Cotto looked so bloated it might be true that he did not train properly, the interview that I read of Diaz making these statements he was explaining his break up with Cotto and no particular fight in general but he did mention the Trout fight as a turning point.
