Martinez is using this as a warm up, a mega million dollar tune up. If he feels he can get back to his best then he'll take GGG, if not, he'll probably retire.

Anber is a recognizeable name in Canada due to his broadcasting work on top of the training.

If anything you people should remember he is the co-founder of Rival Boxing equipment. Second to none.

Quickest way to get injured as an athlete is to worry about getting injured. But knees and hands won't matter in this fight because Cotto is just a better fighter than Martinez. It amazes me that no one sees that as being an option. Apparently Cotto can't win unless Martinez is shot or injured or can't move. There's no way a 3 division champion with a resume like Cotto has can just be better.

Yes Martinez beat PW, but Carlos Quintana did it first and Cotto knocked his ass out.
Yes, Martinez beat Chavez jr., So did Brian Vera, and Carlos Molina.we're not talking about Chavez Sr. Here
Yes Martinez beat another slow robot in Kelly Pavlik who got dismantled by Hopkins. Pavlik is a one dimensional fighter who is tailor made for a mover.

Martinez is a good fighter, but most people on the NSB believe he's some sort of boxing deity... I just don't see it..

We'll see on June 7th. .. I just think Cotto's better, I could be wrong though. At least I can admit there's a possibility I could be wrong.

Russ Anber trained David Lemieux since he was 9 years old. Before the two of them parted ways a few years back.

but did you see Cotto against Trout? a healthy Martinez is a lot better than Trout. plus you have weight. if the fight was at 140 I'd say Cotto but the fight will be at 159.

I think weight and Martinez's health make all the difference in this fight. a good big man will always beat a good small man.

Manny here talk about the Trout fight like if that is the one and only fight that has defined Cotto. Go back and have another look Cotto was bloated in that fight and in recent interviews Pedro Diaz has hinted that Cotto lost the Trout fight because he did not train properly something that caused friction between them.

A healthy Martinez is not as good defensively as Trout is, not even close.
They're both southpaws, but they don't do the same things inside the ring. Cotto - Trout wasn't a 1 sided fight either, it was very competitive. In fact Cotto landed more punches on Trout than Canelo did. I dont believe for a second that we're going to see the same Cotto that fought Trout.

Cotto's right hand has a better chance of landing, but Cotto does not throw that punch enough.
How does fighting aggressively play into Martinez's hands? What In history shows that Martinez handles pressure well? The only guy to really get aggressive on Sergio was Williams who gave him his toughest fight at 160, and Williams fought sloppily. Yes Paul got knocked out in the second fight but shyt like that happens, it was the perfect shot and it was never duplicated. Everyone else (Macklin, Barker, Chavez, Murray, Pavlik) fought tentatively. They never pressured him. Before Williams you have to go all the way back to Margarito to see him get pressured. I'm not saying pressure is the formula, I'm just questioning your statement on pressure being a one way ticket to failure as a certainty.

Fighters and their trainers always come up with some garbage about why they lost a fight. If you believe it, you're a moron.

                      "Didn't train hard enough" -Cotto/Diaz
"Family problems interfered with training" -JuanMa
"It was too hard to make weight so I was chinny" -Khan
"It was too hard to make weight so I got outboxed" -Garcia
"I injured myself sparring but didn't want to cancel the fight" -Many boxers

etc. etc. etc. yadda yadda yadda
