The alphabet groups do all kinds of weird things with their rankings. But I just wanted to point out that Murat was the mandatory first, before Kovalev.

Well I guess it's weird that I don't expect it from them due to their recent showing and do from the other three considering the IBF's past

Its not weird. The reason is because Murat was the mandatory to Tavoris Cloud. Hopkins, Cloud, Murat and the IBF came to an agreement that if Hopkins paid Murat "step aside" money Murat would keep his mandatory status and the winner between Hopkins vs Cloud would be obligated to fight Murat, which was Hopkins of course.

Kind of felt like Schaffer was luring Kovalev to Showtime.

            Step aside, okay.

It's either they hold you back too long or they pay you step aside

That's what Rubio's in right now

That's what it kind of sounds like. Maybe if Kovalev signed with Golden Boy they'd make the fight, or sign with Al Haymon (although Haymon is on recorded saying he's not interested in signing white people but then again he did sign Paulie so who knows).

                When'd he say that?

                That's pretty racist....or discriminatory....or whatever

Yeah. Rubio's case is a little weird since he's only mandatory because he sued the WBC after the Chavez no drug test scandal and actually won, so they legally had to make him mandatory.

2-3 years ago. Maybe he's changed his tune. He wasn't openly racist but in a rare interview someone noted he only had African American fighters (at the time) and asked him if he'd ever sign a white fighter to which Haymon laughed and said no.

I guess Cuello is more related. They paid him step aside money then tried to shaft him by saying they all agreed to give Zhong another voluntary
