Comments Thread For: Kovalev's Promoter Slams Adonis Stevenson, Jabs Haymon

Main Events CEO Kathy Duva, who promotes WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev (23-0-1, 21KOs), held nothing back when discussing the recent turn of events with WBC champion Adonis Stevenson (23-1, 20KOs).

Earlier this year, Duva believed that she reached an agreement with Yvon Michel, promoter of Stevenson, to have their boxers unify in the fall. Both fighters were going to take interim-fights to continue building it up.

Just as he should. It must be somewhat agitating knowing that Stevenson ran to Haymon and Showtime just to duck Kovalev so he can fight an ancient Hopkins.

Unfortunately even with all the fans disgusted at Stevenson's ducking, he doesn't seem to care.

He wants the money the Hopkins fight will bring. Nothing wrong with that. Why is NSB so ******ed? How can you not understand that?

The deal with Haymon was most likely fake. It's a bluff to make HBO pay more than he deserves. I'll be glad to see the conclusion of the story unfold.

Good for HBO for sticking to their guns. Let's see how this Haymon guy make tons of money out of this duck.

Hopkins vs Stevenson is the better fight.

Money that prevents the best fights from happening. Since when is BHop a huge draw? Dude is 49 years old as well. Its not the fight fans want to see. period.

Why? Because Stevenson could make more money fighting Kovalev. It's the fight everyone wants to see, and it would get a lot of PPV buys.

And, at least to me, it means that Stevenson is a hypocrite. He made fun of Kovalev by saying he fights because he needs money, yet he's doing this.

You business before boxing types are what's ruining the sport anyway. GTFOH with that lame argument.
