Both Mosley and Margarito have either been caught cheating or confessed to cheating in the past.

It's also the same about the catch weights. You hate catch weights yet give Cotto credit for taking two fights in which he insisted on having a catch weight.

Also, when you picked Mosley to beat Cotto were you lying or telling the truth?

i can't understand the hate for cotto. he is a warrior, better paid than the ****ing heavyweight king, fights everyone. has no boring fights. lovely left hook and this G look about him. i as well think he is most likely going to lose to martinez but still he is taking the god damn fight

You certainly have the right to heap praise on Cotto and say what a great warrior he is. I don't agree with some of what you said and I have seen all of Cotto's fights that you talked about. When it comes to being a warrior I can't rate Cotto any better than average. I don't think he is anywhere near being the warrior Margarito , Maidana and some other fighters are. I have seen Cotto retreat and sometimes flat out run backward. He ran from Mosley in some of the late rounds and he really ran backward in the late rounds of the first Margarito fight and the Pacquiao fight. He also showed poor sportsmanship hitting Judah low and body slamming Clottey when things weren't going his way.There is no proof at all that Margarito's gloves were loaded for the Cotto fight. The rules call for Margarito to wrap his hands in front of a member of Cotto's team and a member of the boxing commission so how could he cheat? If Margarito's gloves were loaded they were very ineffective because Cotto won most of the first 8 rounds and was never knocked down. As for fighting Martinez, Cotto is being very well paid and got all of the terms he wanted. Canelo tried to get a fight with Martinez and GGG has been after a fight with Martinez for two years. You are good guy and a great poster but I just can't agree with some of the things you said in this thread. I didn't think the Cotto-Mayweather fight was close. I thought Mayweather won 9 or more of the rounds. So let me have it because I am braced and ready for your reply and possible replies from Cotto's many dedicated fans.

I consider Cotto a warrior but it's not because he's *against* willing to go down swinging. My thinking is more along the lines of Cotto playing up his role as an aggressive boxer/puncher. How he's willing to inflict serious damage when he's in his wheelhouse ****ing away at the body/head until he has his man pinned against the ropes trading hard shots. That takes considerable risk managing to score accurately on the inside like Miguel can, his grinding pressure style notwithstanding. If he can't have his way only then will you see him convert into the outfighter which I find hilarious because he has these incredibly stubby t-rex arms.. yet there are instances like in the Mayweather fight where he got away with outboxing the boxer! The championship rds of the Clottey fight are another example.

Moving along. In the Mosely fight Cotto established himself as the aggressor early on, throwing hard leather with Shane until somewhere in the middle rounds Shane made the first big adjustment and began landing his signature right hand consistently. Cotto has gone on to say(see post-fight interview) that late in the match when he came to the conclusion his punches weren't putting Shane down he simply decided to make things easier on himself by sticking and moving, lessening the chances of receiving more unnecessary punishment. What's the point in brawling then?

As exciting as Margarito was to watch coming up, I get somewhat uneasy assessing tape of the infamous 2008 slugfest he shared with Cotto for obvious reasons. I can't separate truth from lie(don't know if the plaster hardened over time--or if just booger?), both men were very changed persons upon reaching the final result. Ironically their careers took them in two radically different directions afterwards but in truth it was probably just the universe's way of trying to make sense of it all. Regardless, Miguel's prideful last stand against Tony's onslaught where his corner finally makes the save wins me over. A lesser man would've looked for an out. Telling the ref he was done vic ortiz style or quitting on the stool ala dlh, something, but Cotto's never been that type of fighter. His resume reflects that same ballsyness.

Pacquiao's footwork easily trumps Cotto's so it's no wonder he was able to perform better against Margarito and Rios to a lesser degree. When you're in the gym you're taught how to slip punches. How after landing a hit you lean to the side to avoid an oncoming right hand or bob under a left hook, followed by stepping back out laterally. The problem is, Cotto appears to have developed this habit where he fires off a combination and moves straight back sometimes, making it easier for a big rangy guy like Margs to walk right up to him.

Pac gets away with it because he relies on his footwork to create offensive angles so it comes naturally for him against plodders. And yet, no one calls Manny a coward for doing it against Rios. Not going "toe to toe". No one ostracizes him for openly refusing to sign a fight with fleet footed Yuri Foreman during his short stay at 154.
Fighting with a badly cut eye in the Clottey clash exuded warrior spirit imo. Clottey is also notorious for headbutting(see Baldomir fight) so bringing up the bodyslamming comes with its own measure of respite. I also believe Cotto's straying low in the Judah clash had more to do with him attacking the body. He isn't a known low blow offender.

To address your statement of him simply being average on the official warrior's scale hand-booklet, I'll say only this. Miguel Cotto has bested his former conqueror in Margarito, tried making rematches with Pacquiao(who didn't comply) and is apparently targeting Mayweather again(invalidating Trout) should he defeat 'The Man' to beat at 160 whom most peg as avoided. If that doesn't scream fearless then I don't know what to tell you.
