He is not going in there to have a fencing match with mayweather and try to look cute.
I agree that he will not try to look cute. With that said, he will smother most of his work against Floyd. There were a lot of incidents against Broner where I thought Adrien could have stopped the activity if he simply clinched. Not even a survivalist-holding-on-for-dear-life cling, just a simple hold because Maidana made himself available to be held. You can bet your house on Floyd holding if Maidana tries to tuck his head underneath Floyd's chin.

Great capturing of little subtle moves that make a difference.

The Guerrero part was hilarious. He literally tried the counter left haymaker over and over and kept hitting air. I guess I didn't notice that when watching it in real time.

Another Devon Alexander vs. Maidana repeat (119 clinches in 12 rds).

Possibly. At best (a big IF), he does as well as Cotto did with his pressure attacks, though Maidana is far from as accurate of a puncher as Cotto.

Cotto actually knows how to stand in one spot without moving his feet, and start whaling away punches without smothering his work. That's why he landed some good punches when Floyd was up against the ropes. HE didn't make himself available for a clinch. If Maidana throws more than one punch, he always moves his entire body into the other fighter and smothers his own work. And unless the opponent is cooperating with him (as Broner was) and doesn't do a simple clinch, he can have success.

It won't work against Floyd. Not to mention, he won't have the same amount of opportunities as he did against Broner because Floyd uses his feet for defense as well and moves out of harms way.

His strange angles come at the expense of having wide punches. Floyd is great at throwing short sharp counters.

Alvarez unlike Maidana isn't prone to getting hurt frequently. Maidana also has terrible defense unlike Alvarez

Not sure why you keep mentioning gear. I guess that's the only reason I've been watching boxing since the 80's.

You can torque your body and pivot your ass off. Bottom line a decent punch is a decent punch. There was nothing special in that video. I've seen Luis Collazo, Mike Ruiz, Tito Bracero, a few local pros, and a handful of amateurs around the same weight work the bag harder than Maidana is doing in that video, and I wouldn't label any of them powerful.

If that's powerful to you, who am I to tell you otherwise. I respect your opinion. I just happen to disagree.
im confused. so because you've seen luis collazo working the bag harder than maidana in this vid, it means that what maidana is doing is not powerful?

maidana is a hard hitter regardless of what he's doing, understand!!

Some of Mayweathers bag work to compare with. Watch from 3:38 something. I don't know, it seems to me that he's punching harder than he usually does.
