If Rigondeaux was a welterweight, could he outbox Mayweather?

Let's imagine Guillermo Rigondeaux was a full-fledged 147-pounder... that his size was increased proportionally and equally until he was the same size as Mayweather.

    Could he outpoint Floyd Mayweather?

I think Rigo has the style to beat Mayweather (on points).

He's black, fast, elite lateral movement, and has powerful counter punches.

Mayweather's style works best against opponents with limited athleticism. Rigo's black; he's got that rhythm.

nobody knows for sure. obviously you lean on the all time great over the guy with one great fight.

if you bet on rigondeaux and are confident you've probably only seen the donaire fight.

That was because he took chances. He was still getting acclimated to the pro game. Can't fault the man for that. He lingered in the pocket for a little bit. So what?

this may be the most boring fight of all time lol. floyd would win easy imo. floyd is too complete of a fighter. his range would give him problems, especially given that this would be a glorified fencing match. and i could also see him bring back the left hook and land it constantly

This fantasy fight comes up a lot. I'm not a big fan of it. I love Rigo and think he's an amazing boxer; but I think you have to go with Mayweather, since he's much more proven. The way I see it, the one real question in this fight is, can Floyd handle "El Chacal's" southpaw stance?

It would be a chess match and I'd pick Floyd to win but it wouldn't be easy. I don't see anyone beating Rigo easily. Rigo is a damn good fighter that would definitely have his moments and trouble Floyd with his speed and overall boxing skills but in the end Floyd wins a UD.

What does being Black have to do with his ability to beat Floyd?
