Only way he gets that though is if he joins Top Rank, which won't be possible till 2015, so he's trying to get out of it now

Its possible. But he doesn't act like a guy that's eager to fight again. He's throwing a tantrum because he wants to fight Chavez Jr. and Arum won't give him Chavez until he gets his promotional situation cleaned up.

A fighter that chases Chavez coming off consecutive horrible performances is clearly just looking for a quick cash out and is not interested in challenging himself anymore.

I think he's legitimately sick of boxing. He's been doing this for 20 years and is tired of the wear and tear on his body. He seems to enjoy commentating to the point where he wants to make a career out of it.

I really think he is a guy we will only see once a year for the rest of his career.

Dan Rafael on an ESPN chat said that Ward didn't like that Goosen was using Ward as leverage with HBO when negotiating for other fighters in his stable. Ward didn't want to be used as a pawn to help Goosen get more money for his fighters (and himself) from HBO.
