I'm sorry, though if Manny won't rematch Morales at 132lbs, there is no way in hell he's going to move up to 135lbs to beat a man he already demolished. It's Barrera that needs Manny, Manny doesn't need him. Of course, money talks and I'm sure a rematch would be huuuuuge! If Manny gets slickered into it which I don't think he should since he's already a rich man, he could go into a huge disadvantage against a guy that when speed isn't against him, he can easily outbox you. We also don't know how Manny's power would go at 135lbs though I can't imagine it getting better.

I'm not simply referring to his connection to the main-stream public. what about his actual boxing legacy inside the ring? will he leave the same impression on the sport with the memorable matchups?

      Key question.

Exactly how "great" are his victories over Morales and M.A.B.??

Do they compare to two of Duran's greatest wins?

PacMan has had great career but he is still relatively young. Duran has a massive legacy - one of the greatest light-weights ever, considered by many a top 10 all time pound for pounder, multiple champion from light weight to middle weight, and famous wars with Leonard, Hagler, Barkley, Buchanan and Hearns. These names resonate a lot more then PacMan's opposition at this stage.

Duran is Duran, Pacman is Pacman. They are not on the same level.

but the rivalry between MAB,PAC,JMM,ERIK is similar to Duran,Hearns,Leonard,Hagler.

                  not really,

                  Duran was a natural 135, not 147, 154, 160.

give me a few minutes, I will post a clip of the Duran/Hearns fight. It will be evident to you the significant size differnce that Hearns has over Duran.

For Pacquiao's legacy to supercede Duran's, he'd have to accomplish some, if not all, of these feats (I'm making the comparison of what it would take for Manny to accomplish what Duran did):

                    1. Dominate his natural weight class for an entire decade. Say Manny dominates the featherweight class for a decade. I assume he'll fail at this one.
                    2. Be considered by most experts the best ever in such weight class. I assume he'll fail at this one, too.
                    3. Go up two weight classes and beat another all-time great (SRL) Say, Pac going up to 135 to face Castillo, and beating him.
                    4. At 31, go up yet another weight class and be competitive against an all-time legend (Benitez), and beating some contenderes as well (Cuevas, Moore) Say, Pac going up to 140 and being competitive vs. PBF and even beating Hatton and Zab.
                    5. At 32, go up one final weight class and be extremely competitive against yet another legend and top 3 all-time in his weight class (Hagler). Say Manny goes up to 147 and goes the distance vs. Oscar.
                    6. Continue being a contender at such weight and, at 37, gaining the title off a very solid fighter in his prime (Barkley). Say Manny beats Margarito for the 147 lb title.

If Manny were to accomplish those feats, then yes, his legacy would surpass that of Duran. Tall ask though.

In the meantime, not even close.

yeah right! he is fighting Elite fighters bigger than his natural weight class.

why Duran didnt captured a title @ 140.
