definitely, he is still young at 27 and already considered among the top 3 p4p in the world. he is a two-time world champ and could easily add two more at 126 and 130 if he chooses too. His skills are at par with those of the best pugilists out there, although there is still room for improvement. He is a smart fighter and learns fast. He may not be able to jump 6 or 7 divisions from where he started and may not equal the number of opponents duran beat, but he beat 2 of the top p4p boxers of his generation in a manner no other else would accomplish. technically, he beat jmm too, so one can can make a good argument that he beat 3 of mexico's great of his era.

as far as intangibles are concerned, manny has a heart of a lion, a fearless warrior who fights only the best out there. he can be a champion of any alphabet he chooses, but he rather chase erik at 130. he is an admirable character in and out of the ring. he has the charisma of an ambassador, the love of his countrymen and the adoration of fans around the globe.

Manny's balloon is still up in the air and i know each fight can burst the balloon but till that happens sky is still the limit...

PAC has faced the best of the feather and barely a dent on the armour, only a couple of rematches (JMM & MAB)to seal it completely...

now if PAC can clean-up superfeather and the balloon is still up in the air he must face his Hagler, his Hearns and his Sugar Ray...

Pac's Sugar Ray ... Zaheer Raheem, like SGL is a slick boxer that can box Pac's ears off !!

Pac's Hearns ... Corrales, could end up like the hearns-duran match up!!

Pac's Hagler .... Castillo the mean fighting machine and keeper of lightweight just like Hagler was the keeper of the middle

Really, Really tall odds but the baloon is still up in the air and as a pacman fan I can alway dream...

Except Corrales, Raheem, and Castillo are nowhere near as good as the boxers you compared them to. Even if Pacquaio beats them it isn't the same as having fought Hearns, Hagler, and SRL.

                  I beg to disagree. There's a reason why he ain't a HOF.

This is a good, unbiased post. However, I think that if Pacquiao is being compared to Duran, he must do like him, so that the comparison is justified by actions. Duran started at 118 and went all the way to 160 to win a belt. If Pacquiao started at 106, he would have to go to 147 or 140, at least, to be equal. Pacquiao would have to hold his own or beat Cotto or Hatton. That seems close to impossible though.

sorry but pac would need more than raheem, corrales, castillo

raheem-leonard is not a good comparison, floyd mayweather if hey ever fought at 135 is more like it

corrales-hearns is not a good comparison again: hearns was as an awesome boxer, corrales well... no.
with this respect morales was closer to hearns, wiht his better skills, but too small. there is really no substitute here.

castillo-hagler is the best comparison of the 3, but it is still a long way: castillo has been stopped, castillo is still too small to make the parallel pac vs jlc - duran hagler. if hatton kicks a lot more ass maybe hatton would be the closest we can get to hagler (closer but far, imo)
