Comments Thread For: Canelo's Manager: Lara on The Short List of Opponents

Late July is 12 weeks after Lara's bout vs Smith. I'm pretty sure many young, in shape fighters such as Lara (hell even 36 year old Stevenson did it last year) can fight 12 weeks after fighting a previous opponent.
And if it's a huge deal and Lara is "the guy" for this fight vs Canelo, then they can move it back 2-3 weeks to make it work.
I think the bottom line here is, if Lara performs well against Smith, we likely see him against Canelo. If he does not, we may still see him vs Canelo (as long as Lara wins), but the odds are slimmer and Canelo may take on a Charlo or a 160lb fighter at a catchweight.

if the fight isn't signed, i could see lara going back on his word to fight canelo.
Just stay in the gym and try to stay sharp till its time for a full camp.

The way I say it is, theyre using his name to promote Canelo. I'll believe it when the fight is signed and sealed.
