My opinion on this.
- Garcia wants a huge payday, they are overplaying their card about being a big star and HBO needing to fork over Millions for this fight. R. Garcia has been lucky that his fighters have been fighting Pacquiao and now Mayweather so he thinks his little bro deserves some huge payday against Gamboa.
- 50 cent doesn't know shit about boxing, he thought he would have Floyd as his partner(face of company) for his promotional company but now he's stuck not knowing what the fuck he's doing. Not long ago he was named as some influential guy in Boxing by Clueless Iole, he was talking shit to DLH on twitter because he was supposed to be hot shit. Skip a year or so later and he hasn't done nothing besides some ESPN2 cards.
- Gamboa is fucked. He used to be exciting but moving up 2 weight divisions he has become boring and these long layoffs are making him irrelevant. If he was smart he would be fighting 3-4 times a year even on ESPN2-ShoBox-Germany so he could keep sharp and keep his name out there.
Bob Arum is doing damage control right now, HBO isn't buying the fight for the millions these guys want, even the big money that Garcia thinks he deserves. The truth is Garcia right now sounds like he wants easy paydays, he's gotten a lot of them on HBO so why stop now. Who can blame him though, that's what boxing is really about. Make the most money while getting beat up the least. Blame Arum and HBO for enabling through the years.
Imo they should do Garcia vs. Uchiyama and Gamboa vs. Beltran or Crawford.
Have the winners fight each other, that would be something to look forward to.Last edited by mrpain81; 03-13-2014, 03:01 AM.Comment

Mexinutthugs in damage control so hard, I have to admit I had not enjoyed bad news this much in a long time. Let it up to Cubans to single-handedly abolish the Mexican warrior tradition, and myth with only 3 pro boxers in the sport
.
Now diva's protected fighters and hype jobs is the new stereotype of this generation . I guess is an upgrade from punching bag, so you're welcome.

The question of course concerns money. Mikey said that Gamboa wanted more money (50% more of what Mikey is getting)
Does Gamboa deserve to get paid as much or more than Garcia? If he does, why can't his promoter put up the cash?
In a recent conversation with BoxingScene.com, WBO super featherweight champion Mikey Garcia said Yuriorkis Gamboa remains at the top of his wish list for his next fight. Premium cable channel HBO is very interested in making the fight but Garcia said that the former Olympic gold medalist is asking for too much money and that is why the fight hasn't been finalized.Last edited by bartolomewj; 03-13-2014, 04:31 AM.Comment

My thoughts exactlyArum and Garcia camp ( mainly Robert not Mikey)never wanted the fight. They knew everyone was asking for it so tried to make it seem like they had a legitimate interest but " Gamboa was pricing himself out" . That was suppose to be the reason for why it wouldn't happen except Gamboa shut it down yesterday when he said he'd accept "whatever ". Now they need a new reason . Bob doing damage controll trying to justify this. He needs Mikey to be a star and doesn't want to risk a loss against Gamboa who he doesn't promote . Not hard to figure out.
At least HBO isn't being fooled on this one ..Comment
