If margarito had a shot at mayweather he would have been Floyd's toughest fight.

Guy's who could take a shot and keep coming are tougher fights for mayweather than guys like JMM or Canelo.

Margarito would actually have to land....cotto, Williams, and Santos boxed his ears off....Augustus was not only tough and kept coming, he had skills could roll punches counter throw quick combos...Margarito lost everytime he stepped up. He beat cotto the first fight and allegedly cheated...the next fight was a replay of the first him getting tagged and outboxed

I agree with the poster who said Castillo 1 was his hardest fight. I dont think he'll mention it tho because he knows alot of people felt he lost the first fight.

Well if you consider beating the piss out of you're opponent (Cotto ) a tough fight then "okkkkay." Cotto won 2 rounds lol. "Tough fight."

Outside of Castillo, he's never had a tough fight. You can get a bloody nose from one punch. Doesn't make it a tough fight. We'll call the Augustus the "tough guy" and Cotto the "tough punch."

Honestly Zab Judah knocked Floyd down and was only down 2-3 rounds behind in the 10th round. And he didn't even work nearly as hard as these two bozos (Cotto and Augustus) did. That was a "tough fight."

Precisely this. This is the cold cut truth.

Not sure if this is deserving of a new thread. However, Floyd always states in interviews that Emanuel Augustus is his toughest fight to date. Couldn't help but notice just how similar Augustus' fighting style is to that of Maidana.

I can't fathom whether this is a good or bad thing as Augustus did land a few (just a few!) decent shots on a young-ish Floyd.

Got me thinking as a Floyd fan he may be a little vulnerable to a whole lotta pressure
This fight (along with Castillo vs. Floyd II) should tell you, or at least give you a glue as to why Floyd goes back to being a defensive fighter and is very cautious and picky on who he fights.

Floyd has called this his toughest fight because he actually lead in this fight. He tried the same against Castillo 2 and he didn't doing so because he got hit a lot more. Its safer to play defence.

Not sure if it was after this fight or the Castillo fights, but Floyd turned all defence. He knows better than to break a fighter down because when you break a fighter down you have to finish him and there lies the danger.
