that's something gamboa doesn't understand because whatever 50 cent demands on his behalf is on him. if 50 cent asks for something more than what gamboa deserves, gamboa is pricing himself out as simple as that.
This is an excellent point. Perhaps Gamboa is okay with whatever he gets, but his promoter doesn't feel the same way. Completely understandable.

Mikey is considered one of the fastest rising stars in the game. Gamboa is trying to get payed, I get that but I don't see 50-50 being close to fair. More like 70-30.

Gamboa is close to being irrelevant right now.
I agree with everything you're saying with regards to Mikey. My logic is that Gamboa, as irrelevant is he may be in danger of becoming, is still probably the opponent who'll draw the most interest. If there were a thread about Garcia and anyone else, you wouldn't get nearly as many responses. We can play rival promoters here and agree on 60-40 Mikey. Deal? lol

I agree, but 50% more than Mikey? I'm sorry but I can't believe this. Let's say HBO is willing to pay 2 million for this fight. What Mikey is saying is that Gamboa wants to get 1.3 mil while Mikey gets 700k lol

and his promoter is just a newbie who probably just want to get as much cash as he can without looking at the best interest of his fighter.

what on gods green earth makes you think garcia is scared of gamboa? its not like gamboa has done really anything impressive.

Honestly his business decisions have really left gamboa in a level obscurity. Gamboa shouldnt even really be getting a chance at garcia. I like gamboa alot but he hasnt beat any one and really talked himself into that negotiating room.

gamboa and everyone around probably feel he deserves what his talent says but he hasnt built his name up or put in the work to deserve **** at the negotiating table against garcia that has been putting in work.

Well I would say yes to 50-50 because I want to see the fight..lol but we need to remember the way the business works. Mikey has all the leverage right now. I also think boxing fans are fickle, they forget easily.

Gamboa is being handled terribly. I live in Miami and talk to many fighters, trainers and promoters and I can tell you NOBODY is talking about Gamboa the way they were.

The talk was Rigo, Angelo Santana, Richard Abril, Stiverne and now Amir Imam. Gamboa needs to stay active to stay relevant, he's BS around and I think his stature has gotten to his head.

Not sure on the math (lol), but I agree that "50% more" claim seems very hard to believe. Two things: 1. Like I said before, people are capable of anything; 2. Why would Garcia make such a claim about such an outrageous Gamboa demand? I don't take anything these guys say at face value.

I don't doubt that for a second. Gamboa shot himself in the foot with that Rios debacle and nearly buried his career for good. I think it's about more than a payday with Yuri. He needs this fight badly, to bring him back into the limelight. His shelf-life will come due all too soon. Unless Gamboa does something quick, he'll be completely gone from the scene in a couple of years. Sad, but he would have no one to blame but himself.
