Comments Thread For: Mayweather on His Place in History, Fighting Khan

Floyd Mayweather’s fighting days are coming closer toward the finish line, and boxing’s pound-for-pound king addressed the subject at Saturday’s press conference announcing his May 3 pay-per-view clash with Marcos Maidana.

“I got this fight and three more,” Mayweather said. “So we can say four fights, three fights. A lot of times you hear people saying, ‘I’m trying to break Rocky Marciano’s record.’ Floyd Mayweather fights for Floyd Mayweather.”

Floyd earned his stripes at 130-135
after that he just became a money fighter
he got some more good wins, but missed the fights he needed to take
1 of them he got 4 yrs past its sell by date
he might yet do the same to another one
fighting Khan doesn't mean jack shit other than money
Floyd has a spot in history, but much lower than it coulda been

Between Marcos and Canelo, I think Marcos had a better shot that Canelo, only because he's a veteran

Either way, Marcos will lose 9-3

Floyd Is Full Of ****; Pacquiao Earned It 5 Years Ago & Floyd Still Ducking

Floyd loves to throw that "I offered Manny $40M", which is all BS, smoke and mirrors. He never sent a signed contract to Manny, so you have no deal. Nobody knows how serious you are till you put it in writing. Had Manny said he'd take the $40m, there would have been never ending demands from Floyd, that's how he operates. As for Khan, he wanted to fight Khan rather than Maidana, but since he got so much negative backlash for even considering him, he chose the right guy who had earned the right to fight. Now Floyd polishes up his image control in this article telling Khan, if you want to fight me, earn it. Really? Why were you even considering Khan then deadbeat, but to gravy train an easy payday off his UK fan base. Then the flip side of it, he says all this talk about how Maidana earned the opportunity, which begs the question, "Floyd why didn't you just come out and call Maidana out then?" Just a phony phukk.

Obvious top 5 p4p all time yet.

To reach a p4p hill Floyd needs to pass through Maidana then beat Garcia/Porter/Brook or Thurman.

Floyd has almost 2000 points on boxrec.

Just like Felix Trinidad in 2001 before Hopkins bout.

as a floyd fan i like this quote

"some may not earn it. i may just pick em because i want to."

this summarized his spot in history
