Obviously there are good fighters fighting exclusively in Europe; but, historically, the best fighters are American, or fighting out of the U.S. If you're not fighting the best, you can't claim to be the best. If an American chess player wanted to prove himself, he'd have to travel to Europe, because that's were all the best players are.
The U.S. isn't well-represented at 122, but she still has more world champions than anyone else. Additionally, the world #1 super-bantamweight lives and fights out of the U.S. If those other guys don't want to fight Guillermo, how can they even be taken seriously?
