However those same blood Ricans will likely abandon him the second he loses. If Danny wan't to be taken seriously as a Rican, he needs to learn some Spanish first and start R-r-r-r-r-rollin dem R's and upping the pace of his speech by 10 - 15 words per minute.

That moment when you need to explain why " Spanish is the language of Spain " !! O.o
Ok, how come someone speaks the language of his own historical enemy and simultaneously feels such patriotic ?!
The answer is : such person is either a brainwashed dumb, has inferiority complex or is one of the enemy's descendants himself !
and what makes him dumber is to fight about who is the patriotic : the one who can speak it or the one who can't !!
Anyway, even Spaniards should not feel patriotic, patriotism is a ******ity, IMHO one should link himself to something higher, religion may be !

but you prove my point with this : ... spoken in any country that spain colonized
So, why do such people who lost their identity by giving up their own language and link themsleves to their invaders' tongue, feel such patriotic ?
The most nationalistic peoples I know usually have this common feature " speak the language of their ancestors killers, dream about the day when they can escape the poverty of their beloved homeland ! "
P.S
This is the definition of the word "Spanish" in the dictionary :
Romance language: a Romance language that is the official language of Spain and of many Central and South American countries, including Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Mexico, and Peru.
It is also spoken widely elsewhere, including in the southwestern United States.
