It's two fold for me. Garcia will be accepted as Puerto Rican due to him being a champion but not by all of them. He will be accepted by the ones who like him have some Murica in em. The blood Ricans who live breathe and speak the culture will not jump so fast, but some will convert depending on how popular he can become. However those same blood Ricans will likely abandon him the second he loses. If Danny wan't to be taken seriously as a Rican, he needs to learn some Spanish first and start R-r-r-r-r-rollin dem R's and upping the pace of his speech by 10 - 15 words per minute.
