Well i think Khan didn't want to risk a loss against Alexander or anyone for that matter because then he'd be out of the mayweather sweepstakes completely . He played it as safely as he could and it backfired on him.

Khan was told by his team not to take another match promising the Mayweather fight. Unfortunately, Khan put too much faith in what people were telling him. Hopefully this will act as a wake-up call and Khan can go about his business with a firmer grip on his career.
