If they can make that fight happen, why shouldn't they take it. Chavez-GGG is a PPV fight and more $$$$. Ward-GGG is an HBO fight...And if Ward had to chose a fight between GGG and Chavez. He would choose Chavez, let's be serious. And that would be the right move. It wouldn't mean Ward was ducking GGG.

And I fully expect GGG to move back to 160 after Chavez if Martinez is ready to step up.
This rookie knows his stuff. I can't wait for the day when Ward gets his from GGG! What you haters gonna say then?

Golovkin fighting Chavez Jr this year is all speculation at this point anyway. Considering recent events, who knows what Team GGG will do. If GGG came back this summer, I think it would be best if he fought Geale and then fight Martinez(if he beats Cotto). Meanwhile, Chavez could fight Pascal, maybe, in July, and then fight Froch/Groves in the fall. If Golovkin and Chavez Jr were both to win their fights this year, they could meet early next year. Ideally, I think that's the best plan for both fighters at this point.

Actually the whole 'GGG will fight anyone from 154 - 168' thing was very much qualified and is simply taken out of context all the time. It was always the case that GGG was aiming to clear out MW but was willing to fight at 154 or 168 if the right fight came up.

Simply put, Chavez is that fight, Ward, right now isn't. If you're the kinda person who likes slinging the D word about, then go ahead, but right now there's no way in which a Ward fight makes more sense than a JCC Jr fight (should it even get made).

I wonder if GGG knows that you're 'holding him accountable' for Sanchez' statement and how funny he finds it if he does.

Surely If he hasn't fought anyone of note he wouldn't be at such a privilege to that type of fight?

He (Ward) said to Adonis who had a massive year in 2013 that he needs some more big fights before he is willing to fight him what is so different about GGG and Adonis?
        Legitimate question.
Ward said that? LOL! If indeed true, that is a legitimate question.

Deep down, I think the haters recognise GGG's greatness. That is why their only hope for GGG losing is fighting, whom many consider, the #2 P4P fighter.

Then when Andre Ward shows interest Golovkin is the one who suddenly says he wants to stay at 160.

...unless Chavez Jr is in play. In which case Golovkin's promoter is interested in a fight at 168 after all.

How can anyone give GGG a pass for that? Especially if they are super critical of other fighters for doing far less?
You on the ball today my man. Exposing these clowns on here for what they really are. Two thumbs up.

          • Golovkin is a big star in the making. Chavez is a big star based on his name/father. Ward is not a star, he is a top 10 pound for pound fighter in the world, but not a star. GGG vs Chavez = BIG MONEY !!! plus GGG will beat Chavez, but not sure he beats Ward. Ward move up and fight Kovalev or Stevenson or shut up a star you are not.

This is nothing new from Ward. He said the same thing about Bute after the super six. Pretty much said that Bute (who was the consensus number 2 fighter at 168 at the time), needed to fight other names before he could step up to Ward.
My question to Ward was if Bute wasn't good enough to fight you then who was? Same with Adonis. He's one of the bigger names at 75, if he's not good enough then who is?

Ok so let me apply your logic to this sceneario.

Ward has said he would be willing to fight Mayweather at 160. So if he's willing to go down to 160 for Mayweather why not 160 for other fighters?
Is it because he's ducking guys at 160? or is it because Mayweather would be special circumstances?

It's the same here. GGG is obviously campaigning at 60, but is willing to move down to 54 or 68 for the right fight.

Great points. No-hopers like Hitking like to take things out of context and attribute quotes to Gennady that he never said. That man is one of the most humble, respectful fighters you will ever find. Hell, when he gets fouled he just smiles offers a glove to touch then continues to bring the wrecking ball ruckus.

                  • After i seen this article i knew that i knew that the GGG damage controllers was gonna come out in full force.A lot of GGG fans love to call certain fighters cherry pickers and duckers. But in GGG Damage controllers minds, GGG fighting Chavez is equivalent to GGG fighting both klitschko brothers at the same time. And they feel Ward isn't worthy of a fight with GGG.They feel Ward needs to move up and fight Wladimir Klitschko, and if he doesn`t,in their minds Ward is cherry picking.

Ward has a big enough fanbase where a GGG vs Ward fight would be big.Your just making excuses for GGG just in case he cherry picks Chavez.
