You can't successfully work your way up the lighter divisions without fighting an army of Mexicans, or boxers of Mexican descent. Joel's most notable wins over Mexicans were Robert Garcia (for the 130 title) and Diego Corrales (Casa won 2/3, scoring one KO). Or, should I say, to use your term, he "beat their a$$es?" There were also lesser wins: Leyva (20-1), Vargas (23-3) and Arias (33-2-1).
Casamayor and JMM are only two years apart, but everyone ages differently. Marquez is still fighting at the highest levels at age 40, which is unusual. By the time those two fought, Joel was on his way out. But it wasn't a bad performance by a fading fighter against a future ATG who would later climb to higher weights.
I hate getting into these skirmishes, but I thought I'd balance the scales a little bit.
shows how much you know... Yeah Robert Garcia such a big name lmao and Corrales was Colombian, have some damn decency. Not everyone with a Hispanic last name who isn't Cuban is Mexican you know.:*******:

It's crystal clear you don't know what a racist is. It's also eminently clear you're not familiar with my posts. And please don't talk about decency, you ****** scumbag.
Diego "Chico" Corrales was the son of an African-American father and a Mexican mother. He was born in Columbia, South Carolina, not the country of Colombia, you asinine twat. GTFOH with your ******, bigoted ramblings.

"You might learn a thing or two from your fellow cab driver." You know damn well what your boy meant. That's what started this. But the Mexicans are the bad guys for responding.
Robert Garcia is a decent win. And at the other guys you brought up. Just like the Puerto Ricans, their elite fighter will beat a Mexican journeyman and they count that in the rivalry hahaha. Not that there's a rivalry, because like I said, Mexicans and Cubans haven't fought all that much. And in my opinion, Juan Manuel Marquez put El Cepillo on his way out.
Corrales didn't represent Mexico in any way whatsoever, but if you like, claim him as Mexican.
Two of Cuba's greatest fighters of all-time in Ultiminio Ramos and Jose Nopales proudly represented Mexico. I know that probably kills some of you.
Lara's fake ass tried to win over the Mexican fans by wearing our colors for the Martirosyan fight, but we didn't embrace that b**ch because we could tell he wasn't sincere about it at all. Now he's "The American Dream" .

Bro, These fools can't take a jab without pulling the race card. Since when does calling someone a "cab driver" represent racism? Some people need to grow thick skin and quit being little divas.

That Santa Cruz might get upset by Mijares which I consider a cab driver? Get over it.

There is no shame in that, who's it bothering? What it seems to me is you keep justifying our current crop of ranked fighters not facing each other by bringing up the past. How many times do you have to mention that Casa lost to JMM? It's not really working for you. A ducks a duck my friend. You can repeat the whole "high risk low reward" concept it still does not remove the fact that your fighters are appearing cowardly in the public's eye.

Guy, your interpretation of that statement is clearly from a sensitive viewpoint. There was no bigotry behind those words. If there was, I wouldn't have defended them. It was ball-breaking, the likes of which you see all day long around here. It obviously worked.

Barack ***** may not represent Africa, but he's African-American, isn't he? Cameron Diaz doesn't identify as Cuban, but her father was Cubano. Your boy obviously considers this some kind of race war. I think it's fair, in the context of this conversation, the bring up Chico.
I brought up those other Mexican fighters in support of dan_cov's comment: "...Casa beat a **** load of Mexican fighters throughout his career." Agreed, they mostly weren't big names, but they were winning fighters and Cepillo did beat them.
If Goliath had killed David, no one would've cared. But the fact that it was the other way around makes it special. We're talking about a lone Cuban warrior wading his way through a sea of Mexican boxers. But when he loses to some of the greatest Mexican fighters ever, it's a big deal to you. It's just bully bull****, and it clearly makes you proud.

A statement like that tells me a lot about your mind-set. I love Mexico and Mexican people in general. It's just guys like you and your boy that get on my nerves. "Sugar" and "Mantequilla" went over to Mexico because Castro came into power. They had to go someplace to fight. They were appreciative that Mexico took them in. They were right to represent their adoptive country in the way they knew how, but it didn't change the fact that they were Cubans. What? Are you going to claim them as Mexican now? C'mon.
Lara's schtick was more in the spirit of Mayweather's wearing of your colors. Despite your interpretation, Landy wasn't trying to gain a Mexican following. You're crazy if you believe that nonsense.
