Trying To Understand Mayweathers Use Of Testosterone Replacement Therapy

Dr. Don Catlin, who managed drug testing at the last three Olympics contested in the United States and a man many call the founder of modern drug testing in sport, agrees with Papp’s assessment.
“I think it has little to no effect,” he said of DHEA. “There are a number of studies. Some say there’s a small amount of performance enhancement and some say there isn’t any. It’s nothing like testosterone, which does enhance performance. ”
So why does USADA bother testing for DHEA? Well, they don’t.
According to Catlin, USADA is using a test that only looks for evidence of synthetic testosterone. He would know. He invented the test, generally referred as a carbon isotope ratio (CIR) test. He said it can be dialed up or down for greater accuracy. Most of the time the USADA test*** is dialed down and can’t distinguish synthetic testosterone from DHEA. Thus the conclusions it reaches aren’t very conclusive. That’s why USADA couches its press releases. Instead of saying an athlete tested positive for either testosterone or DHEA, they have to state the athlete in question had “an adverse analytical finding for testosterone or its precursors,” or words to that effect.
And therein lies the rub. DHEA is legal and easy to buy in the United States. It’s found on the shelves of most grocery stores. Synthetic testosterone on the other hand is a Schedule-lll drug, the possession of which is a Class-C felony. A conviction carries up to five years in incarceration and up to a $100,000 fine. Suddenly the DHEA angle looms large. Not that a positive drug test is grounds for arrest or that the slim possibility of being arrested deters doping, but the procurement and use of illegal drugs isn’t exactly the image high profile athletes with endorsement deals or coaching businesses want to project. And, considering it’s widely understood that DHEA provides little if any performance enhancement, you have in the public eye, not a drug cheat looking for an advantage but maybe a guy who got desperate or just did something ******. Certainly it’s damage control but given the circumstances it seems to provide a mitigating ethical parachute for those athletes caught using testosterone and looking for someplace soft to land.
Peterson was caught with synthetic because of VADA.
Which testing agency does Floyd use? Could someone tell me?Comment

LOL but you think these boxers are using it properly.http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2014/3/3/...ABC-guidelines
If I was a manager of a fighter and concerned with PED abuse, I might prefer to fight Vitor Belfort on a TUE, if in a major jurisdiction, due to the amount of testing and scrutiny that Belfort will be subject to. Belfort is very likely to be drug tested far more and scrutinized much closer than any other fighter. The issue is to ensure adequate drug testing for all contestants along with rigorous requirements and adequate monitoring of those with TRT TUE's.
Here's the thing. Are there guys trying to cheat by doing TRT? Probably, but in the jurisdiction of a competent commission, he's running a huge risk of getting caught. A much higher risk than if he just cycled steroids without ever trying to get a TUE. Handled properly, there's no advantage for a guy taking TRT. There just isn't.
Peterson TRT becomes this COME FORWARD BRAWLER with pop and is walk khan down. Then he gets caught come back and ends up getting stopped in 3 rounds.
Mickey Bey, beat the crap out of his opponent on it and stops him in 3 rounds, get caught for TRT and his next fight he cant hurt his oppenent after hitting him with everything and gets stopped.
Yeah Handled Right it might help your sex drive if your 50, abuse it like these cheaters and you become a tough motherfucker.Comment

No that's my whole point is I don't think it is handled properly. Because the TUE is private and GBP and Mayweather Promotions are private companies with obvious interests to protect.LOL but you think these boxers are using it properly.

No boxers are KNOWN to....
Isn't that just another way of saying that they can't tell you because it is a private medical issue?
I believe Floyd is doing something. Or was. (I think most fighters do at the top level) The long layoffs...your body shuts down production of testosterone when you use synthetic over a period of time. The only thing to regulate it is time.Comment

Did u even listen to it? All the reporter asked him was "what's your take on trt". He never once accused or asked him if be was on it. Yet Floyd froze up, went into panic mode, and looked guilty as sin.Or maybe Floyd was so offended by the mere suggestion that he was roiding that he didn't want to see the reporter again.
You know, just like how Manny was so offended by the PED allegations in 2009 that he didn't take the test, because it was outrageous to even suggest that he was roiding. Right? Wasn't this his main excuse for balking at OST?Comment

bullshyt.

WHY didn't Manny agree to OST back in 2009? He can use the "I'm oh so offended by the accusation" excuse, but Floyd can't?Comment
-
Yes. He had to simplify what the reporter was talking about since Floyd claimed he didn't know what the reporter was talking about. It was a simple question. Not an accusation or "ambush".Comment

Lol...is this what grown men do nowadays?Originally posted by LuilunFloyd has to use TRT because he can't get it up You have all the money in the world and you can't keep a women, strange don't you think?
