over-rating someone, asu said, is an exaggeration, ppl r overrating PBF, even tho he is the best. get it?

"I OWN his mind" was related to #4, actually. He keeps saying the convo is bull****, yet can't resist the pull.

Question: How is PBF overrated? He is the best. Clearly. Most (not all) people say he is the best. Nobody is saying he is the best of all time - yet. Where is the 'overrationosity'?

There are threads on here putting Gatti into the Hall of Fame. Haven't seen the similar PBF thread.

      1) Mayweather has an unbeaten record and is the consensus best fighter in the sport, earning those laurels against consistently good opposition. That isn't "hype". That is MERIT. Michael Jordan or Larry Bird were not HYPED. You conveniently forgot the fact that I listed Judah and Jeff Lacy? Now go back and answer those one cum guzzler.

Apparently, you don't know what "hype" means. Promoting or publicizing extravagantly. Get it? I know what hype means. The ones I listed are hyped. Enough said.

2)You completely lack credibility the way you transparently list more ********** than whites. LOL. Nice try, though. Add Calzaghe, Arnaoutis, et all. AS A START!! Ok ill add those 2 and still the fact remains. You said black fighters dont get publicity, I have proven you wrong, and now you are talking about my listing techniques? ANSWER THE QUESTION/POINT!

      3) Apparently, you are British and have a completely different perspective on who is getting pub. Codrington (and Haye for that matter) can walk into a room of boxing fans in America and go largely unrecognized. - Being British has no bearing in this discussion. You didnt put any boundaries on the publicity, so for instance in America alone, you just made a ****** assertion. Also if David Haye walked into a room of 100 people, I guarantee at least 20 people would know who he is in England. The same goes with Jaidon "KO 1st real punch media hype stereotype" Codrington.

      4) If you TRULY don't care about this topic, why do you keep coming back to this thread to comment?? That seems strange to me. - When did I say I dont care about this topic? And when did I say this topic is bull****? I might have said your assertion is bull****, not the topics that are flying around because of that assertion though. Stop trying to detract attention and answer my points!!!!!!!

I OWN your mind. - Hahaha, ok ill let everyone else decide who has owned who in this...
That was the weakest **** ever on these boards....

My, my, my Ex...How much HAVE I gotten into your head? You are quite angered now. Which has entertained me to no end. Thank you.

"cum-guzzler " was a nice touch. Get that one from your son?

The fighters you named can walk into an AMERICAN room of fight fans and most people wouldn't know who they are. You have a very small-minded, parochial view. You look at it as a Brit solely.

Unfortunately, the UK doesn't dominate the fight game. America does. This is where the guys come to ply their trade. (well, unless you consider Calzaghe who stayed home and fought nobodies).

I have told you THREE TIMES to go back and read the original post. Just click the "first" on the page listings. Not difficult. Stop misquoting me, dear. I did not say "black fighters don't get publicity". You apparently need to CHANGE what I said to find something to refute. You are arguing with yourself at this point, because you certainly aren't addressing MY point.
There has been no "hype" around Mayweather, Lacy, etc. they have gotten the appropriate acclaim for their accomplishments. Judah has ALWAYS had the same rep. Briliantly gifted guy whose ****-for-brains approach and lack of focus (and chin) prevents him from being a consistent or top fighter. Is that "hype"? NO That is an accurate description.

In fact, many people say that Mayweather should be a bigger star than he is based on his skills, etc. That is 'hyped'?

You yourself agree that "hype" is extravagantly praising or promoting. ZAB JUDAH HAS BEEN HYPED?!?!? The vast majority of ZJ-related media has been negative in nature. He has never had a big money fight, and he didn't sell out a 5,000 seat arena in his hometown of NYC. WHERE'S THE HYPE???

Mayweather, Lacy, Judah, etc ALL get the APPROPRIATE amount of attention, and, largely, the correct criticism. The last "black fighter" (since you are somehow focusing on that even though I specifically did not refer to that) that was "hyped" was the post-jail Tyson. He beat nobodies, lost to any good fighter, but still sold tickets and commanded alot of media attention (Hmmmm, sounds alot like Arturo Gatti??)

I will do you exactly the favour of going back and quoting where you said this post was pointless and "I win. You lose. Thread closed." Just to remind ya, dear.

Several people on here (and I can scroll back through and list the names if you want) have already underscored my point.

              Barry,

EXIGE is the one writing in big, red letters.

Thank you very much. I enjoyed that.

              Nite, hun.

As people, we are all equal. We are all equal in God's eyes. We all share one earth and the same human connection.

However, as athletes, ********** do NOT share the same equalities. Especially in Europe, quite often.

EXIGE, is it not true that football fans throw bananas out at the black players? While they are on the pitch. Isn't it true that fans hold up blatantly racist signs? Am I making this stuff up? No.

So, yes. We all are brothers in humanity. But that doesn't mean that equality extends to the way people are treated and to the way the media portrays different people.

                • JMC Bulls,

Please give me a couple of examples of someone who was the acknowledged best at their sport, yet was overrated.

Just a couple of examples, please.

                  Regards,

                  The Duplicitous One.

                    LOL.

Duplicity, I've really enjoyed the way that you handled yourself in this thread. I'm also amused by the refusal of the posters who are attacking you to respond to anything that you’ve actually posted, instead of creating straw men and hurling invective at you. You really touched a nerve.

                    • EXIGE,

HOw much of a lunatic can I be when three of the first ten posts were in agreement (4,6,10)?? and quickly scanning beyond that....35, 44, 47, 49,...

I think that people feel uncomfortable discussing the elephant in the room. I don't have those discomforts. If that draws fire, so be it.

I know you think I'm some uneducated street urchin with an Internet connection... you'd be surprised.
