Does Lomanchenko losing make Rigo look better ?

As a big fan of both Rigo and Loma...I do not believe that Loma is ever going to be as great as Rigo, he is going to be great if this loss doesnt mess him up psychologically but Rigo in Loma's own words "is a master."

But I do see a lot of negative comments about Loma's skills and such after this fight...which I find odd...

I bet Rigo would have the same issues in his 2nd fight against a guy like Salido...


THe fault is on Lomachenko himself and his team...he wanted to go for history and lost...and rightfully so, this is a different game...

But this loss might just make him stronger...He showed that he is tough, can take a shot, and get roughed up for 12rds and keep going.

He just needs more fight against decent opposition...no 5-10 guys and I guarantee he will be a top 4 p4p fighter.

Yeah, the WSB is more like "semi-pro." The one good thing it has going for it is that sometimes top amateurs face each other in a pro setting.

I would've liked Lomo's chances versus Ramos. He wasn't all that. The guy landed one big shot in a fight he was losing against Shimoda. Rico was scared to death versus Guillermo. He did his best Michael Spinks impersonation that night.

the WSB is not semi pro...........when 2 guys make their debut in the pro ranks they usually match them against guys with similar records (2 0 3 0) their begginers.........the WSB would be just that. head gear is off and almost all of the rules are professional = a pro 5 rounder fight.

Still used amateur gloves and fought amongst amateurs. Yep, totally pro... :boobies:

you're remedial.............what did hopkins start off fighting? what about ali? tyson? 2 & 0 fighters (fighters with very little pro experience) it's because they themselves had very little fights (the same for lomachenko in the WSB. fighting guys that are 2 0) how is that any different then making your pro debut fighting a guy 2 0 in the "professional ranks" there is none............the guy that lomachenko fought before salido actually looked a lot worse then the WSB guys.


lomachenko has like 8 professional fights.......(and even him himself agrees with this) get over it.

I dunno, Dan. I know Lomachenko didn't look especially impressive versus Salido, but things have to be taken into context. Rigo's skills and talent were evident to me and those who followed him as an amateur, but many disagreed...until he fought Donaire. Now everyone seems to agree Guillermo is a master (although many complain about his being "boring"). I think withholding judgment just a little longer is in order. I saw Vasyl as an amateur, and I liked what I saw very much.

lomachenko in no way shape or form is a special fighter..........(maybe you've been following too much of his amateur career) he has too many bad habits. he fights entirely too much with his feet but forgets to put his punches together (jabs, combos) the guy came in with the tactic of keep salido at a distance & when he comes in/grab him and push away....he also does way too much shoe shinning (i swear if saldio was more quicker lomachenko would have gotten himself hurt) if he is to be special they would have to break him out of a lot of awful habits.

Rigo is the greatest Cuban fighter of all time imo.

It's a different level. While I like Loma, I think he's going to be great, he's not on that level.

The lack of experience was a key. When Rigo fought for his first world title against Cordoba, that was probably his toughest fight ever. He was facing someone with like 30+ professional bouts, and Rigo only had 6. He even got dropped which was a fluke.

Had he fought that same Cordoba now, he would have knocked him out. It takes time to adapt to the pro game.

I think it's clear Rigo is the more talented boxer. Loma did himself a disservice not having more pro fights though.

Yeah that's one of the most annoying things which keeps getting repeated.

it wasn't a easy win but certainly not the a razor close fight that lomachenko fans are portraying.............people also forget that rigo was hit with a flash knock down (he stumbled over his feet in the process of falling) but the body shot that rigo hit cordoba with nearly ko'd him (he barely made it up from that body shot) and the judges had it so close because they were in texas. the people were just out for blood. they actually tried to rob rigo in texas but in realty he won the fight by a comfortable margin (the judges cards just don't reflect that because again.......it's texas)

Rigo looks about as good as he can, but like any fighter like him, he suffers for his own skillset. He needs to be more active and sit down on his punches more. If he did that, he would possibly be beatable but at the same time he would be immortal. Like Rjjr was.
