Lomachenko has a long way to go, or does he? There is no rush now. I bet he doesn't get or want another title chance anytime soon.
Great post. I'll add that the fact that a kid with only one real pro fight under his belt went twelve solid rounds with a vet like Salido is impressive unto itself. Even guys with hundreds of amateur fights don't do that.

People are just frothing at the mouth because Top Rank tried jamming Lomo's hype down our throats the way they did.

You think Verdejo could've done better against Salido, or anyone like him? He would've been eaten up alive. Felix is nowhere near ready for a guy like Lomachenko. Just because they both turned pro around the same time means nothing.

Going 12 rounds with Orlando Salido is a huge jump in the growing process. He's not world class yet, but this fight suggests he will be soon enough.
That wasn't a surprise from what I'd seen he doesn't use a jab very often but it was shocking to see he didn't even use it at all. I'm sure it would of helped to keep some range , he struggled against Ramirez to keep him off his chest and Salido is a lot tougher.

You know it, Bo. Lomo needs a real pro trainer, not his dad. Four hundred amateur fights tends to instill certain habits. That's the problem many of the Cuban fighters have had. It'll take time to adjust, but I'm confident Vasyl will succeed.

But I still was impressed by Loma I didn't think he would make it to the 12th round let alone almost stop Salido in the final round. Granted Salido wasn't in great shape for this fight but it was still impressive.
I also picked Salido to stop him. Salido made punching people in the balls look like artistic expression. I was very impressed by Lomachenko, he went 12 rounds in his 2nd fight with a world class fighter who is the Ric Flair of his division. In a loss Loma won me over. I found myself wishing a robbery on Salido at the time the scores were read. The kid is world class and will be a star.

Not hating, nor do i need to be a racist. Just calling it like i see it. Salido work to have the belt that he got. Bob and HBO disrespected the man lifetime of work for Loma. By giving Loma that fight, you saw what Bob think of Salido. What Salido realized that even though he had the belt. He never had the respect from Bob,HBO and WBO. I'm pretty sure Loma wasn't the #1,#2 or #3 ranked fighter by WBO. But got the fight for the title. Since the title means **** all, why make weight. Lets take this AMA KING to school. Thats exactly what happened. If i'm Gary Russell, Jr. I'm wondering wtf is going on here. Cause Bob don't got my best interest!!! Bottom line Loma lost, doesn't matter how he just did.

                  Freddie for Lomo

Yes you are correct in your assessment, I think his dad is a world class amateur coach but he should take a back seat on this one and hire a pro coach with an established reputation for his son. I thinks someone like Freddie Roach could polish Lomo's pro game and increase his offensive output.

Salido seems to be skating after committing the cardinal sin of boxing.

                      My take on the fight.

I think Salido was disrespected but the young kid fought well. I think the ref was terrible and allowed Salido to hit low, and Lomanchenko to hold non stop.

Saying that, I thought Salido pulled it out but this is a great experience for the young kid. He will have a bright future in boxing, he was just in against a vet.
