Comments Thread For: Chavez Jr. Redeems Himself With Solid Win Over Vera

Alamodome, San Antonio, Texas - Former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (48-1-1, 32KOs) redeemed a poor performance last year, with a tough twelve round unanimous decision over Bryan Vera (23-8, 14KOs) for the WBC super middleweight Continental Americas title. The scores were 114-113, 117-110, 117-110.

A more determined looking Chavez from the start, with Vera electing to trade hard shots with the bigger man. Chavez was landing better, he was getting Vera with the harder punches and he was more active with power punch combinations. Chavez was ripping Vera's body often. Vera made a very strong account of himself, with trading punches often and landing some hard counters but he was never able to seriously hurt the Mexican star.

Chavez is a slow, plodding, face first catcher with no defense. It will always be that way. He did NOT redeem himself. It was a club fighter he was fighting!

Chavez showed great movement and defence. Made me think Bradley has trained him. The workrate and movement along with body work. Damn a smw Bradley.

GGG would be arrested for Homicide if he fights Chavez Jr.

What makes you think that? I like GGG but he showed a lot of flaws in his last fight. A motivated and in shape JR gives anyone problems, and tbh Chavez hits just as hard as GGG
