Jim, just give up. burns looked horrible in every way!

is this the end of burns?
It wasn't evident enough from the Gonzalez fight? If it wasn't, then there was the Beltran fight. And if that still wasn't enough then there was tonight's fight.

    • Scored it 117-111. Crawford was the better fighter. However there was definitely something missing from Burns, he didn't show the fire he has always had. Taking nothing away from Crawford though, tactically he was spot on.

Burns should fight Beltran to excise some demons. Either that or go after Abril or Vazquez. I can't see him winning a rematch with Crawford - bad style match up.

Burns is only 29/30 so plenty time for him to recover from this. Maybe a move to 140? After Garcia moves up the division would be wide open.

I like Vargas but I don't think he is on Crawford's level. Khabib is good as well but Crawford has that ability to switch things up as needed to any style that he faces. But the thing about Crawford that I picked up on an respect the most is the mental edge...he has the ability to remain calm and composed no matter how hard the environment is. He just went into this man's backyard in front of 50K fans (arbitrarily picking a fan count number obviously) and take the title from the champion.

Crawford is a special kind of talent and I don't really think either of the two guys in question will be able to impose their will on Crawford as they would need to do to be effective. Obviously, one of my favorite boxers out there is Bradley and he apparently sparred with Crawford before the Alexander fight and after the session, he approached Dunkin and asked where in the world Dunkin found him because he was so impressed with him. Crawford is the real deal and I think he beats anyone from 135-140 hands down....even Vasquez.

        • I expect a lot will laugh but Crawford really does remind me of Sweetpea at times. Very gifted fighter with a real bright future.

          • Crawford is legit. I thought he would win, but I thought the fight would be a lot closer... it wasn't. Crawford went over to Ricky Burns' hometown, something Broner refused to do, and out classed him and tried to even take him out at the end. That's what elite fighters do, they go to the opponents hometown and take the belt from them in convincing fashion.

I probably rate Ricky higher than others, even though he struggled a bit in his last couple fights I still thought he was an excellent fighter, and still do. Yet Crawford was simply better.

            • crawford has been brought up with kid gloves. few years back i thought like others maybe a sugar ray. but never developed any power.
a win over second tier burns will not raise fear in any of the real champs.

              • It's all about levels about the end of the day and when saying "Ricky wasn't his usual self tonight", you have to remember there is a reason for that. Crawford is just a quicker, more natural gifted boxer, his reflexes left Ricky puzzled and limited to what he could do.

I agree, I saw a very good fighter in Burns, he is no scrub at all. He just knew that he could land a shot here and there but had he really committed himself, he would have gotten into real trouble. He did what he could but Crawford took control whenever he wanted to and didn't look troubled the least bit at any time during the fight while Burns looked like a fish out of water 85% of the fight.

                  • Was a great fight, I had a feeling Crawford would take this, Burns has had the belt too long, by round 6 Crawford was pretty much in complete control.

Jim Watt needs to be swallowed, but for once I actually agree with his card.
