  • Official Rick Burns vs. Terence Crawford & Undercards RbR & Discussion thread

IMO, they were spot on with the guy who quit on the hand, but odd with Beltran.

Here are the judges.... all from different countries:

There will be no British judges officials for this one. Respected Puerto Rican Luis Sabon will referee. The judges are Zoltan Enyedi of Hungary, Alejandro Lopez Cid of Mexico and Salven Lagumbay of the Philippines.

Source is Daily mail, but I've seen it from other places.

We do this before every fight that takes place in Britain that involves a foreign fighter.

The foreign fighter is going to get stiffed. The question is, how badly?

Terrence should be able to out-box Burns but his problem is that his mentality isn't to seek a knockout - so when Crawford does the much better work in the round, only to see the crowd go wild at Burns' bursts of busyness, he's not gonna get the round. That sort of classical, (African) American slick style is not going to win him the fight, even if he schools Burns badly. He is going to have to hurt Burns.

Because if, as the non-house fighter, you don't go for the knockout, you're gonna get jobbed. And even if you're a Kovalev or Frenkel and you knock down the house fighter badly, you've gotta keep doing it until he's nearly unconscious. But if you get knocked down yourself, an entirely flash knockdown, don't even try to be smart and take your time getting up, because you'll be counted out at 9.

      Hopefully not.

We all know what goes down over there

You never know...the Gonzalez scorecards seemed spot on at the time of the stoppage, but I don't think press agreed with the judges last time with Beltran.

IMO, don't know any of these guys so I have no idea how they judge

Amazing how much fuss is being made because of one instance of bad scoring. People seem to forget that in Burns' previous fights, the officiating was completely fair.

Gonzalez was comfortably ahead on all three cards when he ran out of gas and quit. The Katsidis fight was a tad closer than the judges had it imo, but Burns clearly won so it didn't really matter. And in the Martinez fight, the judges were more than fair to the visiting fighter. Burns won that 9-3 on my card.

Btw judge Enyedi is my compatriot, I vouch for him

Crawford is going to prove to be too good showing too much movement and precision. Burns will get frustrated and try to bumrush him and get caught. I think he has been down at least two times in his career that I am aware of and Crawford will eat him alive once he starts getting frustrated at not being able to effectively get to Crawford.

The crisp counter shots from Crawford will be telling as they leave Burns' head snapping backward time and time again. The demoralized look on his face in the corner and the pleading from his team should further solidify the opinion that he was just outclassed today. Even so, I think Crawford will only get a SD instead of a deserved UD just so Burns can save face.

Judging should be seen as a potential problem before every fight, and almost a guarantee when a foreign fighter goes to the home country of his opponent.

Technically it doesn't matter where the judges are from, anyone can get paid off/corrupted. What matters more is where the fight takes place.

However, considering the obvious which I will not get into, if Crawford legitimately loses a close decision/a fight that could have went either way, I guarantee certain people will be screaming robbery for months.

Yes. The UK is famous for judging that is very generous to the UK fighter. If he is a popular champion it's worse.

Maybe because if you go from normal to ass backwards it makes you wonder
