-He has had people talking for a long time with his performances, leading to him becoming a regular headliner on HBO
-Has Amateur wins over Andre Dirrell, Lucian Bute, Andy Lee, etc.
-Has absolutely crushed durable opponents like Macklin, Ishida, Stevens

... and most importantly;

-No one wants to fight Ward. Kessler, Froch, etc have all said they want a rematch, but thats a bunch of hot air. They like to pretend Andre Ward doesn't exist, because they know they'd be embarrassed if they fought again. Outside of Groves, there arent a lot of guys on the come up making noise.

Hell, not even Golovkin's people are saying Wards name since Ward said he'd gladly take the fight.
