Comments Thread For: Danny Garcia: Khan is a Harder Fight For Mayweather

WBC/WBA junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia says Marcos Maidana fully deserves the lucrative opportunity against Floyd Mayweather Jr. On Monday, the pound-for-pound king selected Maidana as his next opponent. The fight takes place on May 3rd, more than likely at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

For a few months, Maidana and Amir Khan were the two frontrunners for Mayweather's next fight. Khan was widely viewed as the likely opponent for Mayweather - until Maidana upset Adrien Broner in December to capture the WBA welterweight title.

All of Khan's opponents of late made him look nothing special and so how's he going to be difficult for Mayweather? Of course between Maidana and Khan maybe because Khan can box a little he's slightly a difficult of the two easy fights. I hope Khan fights Thurman next or Lucas Matthysse if he really wants a Mayweather fight down the road.

I'm sick of hearing about Khan.

Khan should put some work in first. Simple as that.

He has to re-build, he's had some tune ups, get some good wins under his belt against top guys at 147 to get in position, then we can start to consider Mayweather.

Precisely. And Danny would know because Khan was tagging him before Danny closed his eyes, head down (watch the replay) and timed him beautifully with a left hook to the NECK (not Khan's jaw - which some of you guys are obsessed with to the point of possible ************.)

I've been saying this all along, the boxers know it (Danny ain't the first guy to say it.) AND Floyd knows it.

But oh wait. Maidana "deserves" it. Like a little doggy deserves a pat on the head when they are behaving. Please, it's about match ups, not deservance. ALSO REMEMBER Maidana lost to Khan, lost to Alexander, wen life or death for 6-rounds with Lopez.

Man I just killed it, if Jim Rome was here he would say "rack um." This should be one of your signatures.

            Hash tag, good morning.

Khan was told not to fight in dec by Floyds people.

Khan always fought 3 times a year and never ducked anyone, he's been ducked over here.

Garcia Knows what Khan can do he was a round or two way from being stopped by Khan.

...and Khan got dropped by McCloskey, went life and death with Maidana, filmed the movie "Gone in 60 seconds" with Prescott, beat down by Garcia, dropped and scrapped a win with Diaz...need I go on? When was the last time Floyd fought anyone that wasn't a champion? Khan needs a good win before he could be considered an opponent. He hasn't done anything in the last 2 years. His last decent win was Judah in 2011. Danny landed the punch in the neck/back of the jaw area, if he would've landed on the jaw cleanly, Khan wouldn't be with us today. Be glad!

Lol dude you said it yourself "Khan went life or death wit Maidana AND WON. SO you're saying essentially Maidana went life or death with Khan and LOST.

                  NEXT!

And homie, Danny's punch was on the NECK, NOWHERE CLOSE to the "back of the jaw" or any where on the jaw. Don't try t sneak those felonious statements in when talking to Me. They stand out like a sore thumb. If you need clarification, I'll post the video for you.

Garcia is absolutely right!! Which is why Mayweather selected Maidana.
Everyone hates on Khan but he would bring somehing that Mayweather has not dealt with in a while.

I'm not saying Khan wins bt he brings a different dynamic and he's not gonna stand right in front of Floyd and come straight at him trying to pressure him and land a big shot.

Like Danny said he's tall with long arms uses his jab, has fast hands and can box and move. He also has power in his punches, and there is no threat in him being knocked out.

I'm not saying Khan would win but like Danny said he would pose more of a problem to Floyd, and Floyd is not trying to deal with that.

So he selected Maidana which I like but in all reality he is flat footed, comes straight forward, doesn't try to get out of the way of anything and will wing wide shots in the hopes of landing something big.

Taylor made for Floyd, there is a reason he fights these types of fighters, it's all about low risk for him. As soon as Maidana name was dropped into the conversation Khan had no shot. Typical Floyd, not surprised and I will not waste my money on this fight.

I'ss save it for Martinez vs Cotto & Canelo vs Angulo, at least I'll get my moneys worth.
