I really think Loma is going to pull it off, I believe the reason he looked great in his "first" fight was because he's already fought without headgear and all in the World Series Boxing, about 6 other fights I believe(and got paid for them).
I'm rooting for Salido though, tough veteran and a true fighter.
(But you know I had to score some points on boxingscene with this fight.)
I still think this was a really bad idea forcing this kid to step up so soon instead of letting him adjust to the pro game, wish him the best and would love to see him make a name for himself (as a pro) but Salido could very well ruin him.

He's not being forced, this was his idea. He would only sign if he was promised a title shot in his 2nd fight
Kind of has a eerie Julio Cesar Chavez vs Meldrick Taylor ring to it - Salido has patience, he has veteran tactics (dirty) and he can crack, very relentless approach - Loma fights like an amateur still, even Rigondeux fought like 10 fights before he got his shot, he fought just about every style, had a little adversity, went some rounds, then made some overall adjustments to his pro game which made his defense and countering so much fiercer. This kid Loma? I do not doubt his skill set at all, Boxing is more mental than physical! If Salido can get the kid to the 5th round I think Loma will be in trouble.
Let's wait a few years before getting overly excited. That gets said about every prospect these days, and very, very few get there. He has great potential, but I can see flaws that might stop him reaching those heights. We'll see if they can be taken advantage of or if he fixes them. Two immediate problems are his relative lack of power, IMO, and his less than stellar (lack of height, reach for his first division) physical traits.
Lets see whats real and whats Hype Salido may not be level A fighter but if you let him have a bit of success he can build on it over the course of a fight .

He's 5'7 with a 23" reach and demonstrated good power in his debut.
I really don't know where people get some of this stuff.

Since 2013 amateurs have been fighting without headgear which was the same time Lomachenko was in WSB.
