Well, if Cotto did want Martinez to walk to the ring first, I would say that's pretty disrespectful. Martinez is the champion here.

Cotto probably didn't even know who Sergio Martinez was.

Sergio wasn't really a star until he KO'd PWill and wasn't really a household name until the Chavez Jr fight.

Cotto probably thought Martinez was a regular fan and Sergio got butthurt.

Now Martinez is blowing the whole thing out of proportion to give himself some artificial motivation.

Sounds about right to me, but sure makes the fight a lot more exciting knowing Sergio is trying to make a statement before he's fed to the lion.

As much as I like Cotto, I feel Martinez is going to hand him a beating.

It's a 50/50 fight. Cotto looked like a beast in his last fight.

That said, if he runs into a counter shot with that aggressive new style, it's nitey nite like Pwill*.

I like Cotto and I don't doubt him - the guy's all class and respect. I can't imagine him being rude or abrasive to anyone.

This is the thought I have. If he was like that, I'm sure it wasn't intentional.

Laughfable. Cotto is a class act. Martinez is overrated. Because he is an ambush fighter he has managed to beat guys with speed....great, does not mean he is all that. If Cotto still has it he will show Martinez a real boxing lesson. I hope he does. If his legs are good he will track down Sergio and make him fight inside a bit....lets see how Martinez likes that.

Honestly, Martinez has more reason to be upset about the negotiations. That was where he was really disrespected (second billing, enters first, introduced first, etc.). He didn't receive respect as the champion. But if the handshake thing motivates Martinez, all the better for him.

I was thinking the same thing.
I would be more motivated to beat him for not giving me the respect as the lineal Middle Weight Champion than I would be of a handshake.

Honestly i don't like two classy men comes to this;i really believe COTTO is a gentleman like i really believe MARTINEZ is a honest man;now that the "war" is starting i realize that i'll see one of them hurt and i'm fan of both,i hope they don't go out of control!!!
