  • Comments Thread For: Hatton Promotions Releases Martin Murray

The old saying goes, you can lead a horse to water but you can't lead him to drink.

After offering Martin Murray a number of drinks in the form of title fight offers, Hatton Promotions has finally decided to tell the middleweight contender to bugger off.

A statement released by Hatton Promotions has announced their decision to allow Murray's contract to expire, leaving the contender as a free agent. His potential upside isn't as appealing as most perennial Top 10 contenders, however; visa issues and a history of turning down fights leaves the Brit in a curious situation.

"We got Martin a British title, a Commonwealth title and two world title shots," informed Ricky Hatton, the former two-division champion now turned full-time promoter. "We secured him two further world title shots in the past few weeks and all he had to do was make up his mind which one he wanted."

Offers for world title fights with Gennady Golovkin and Felix Sturm have been on the table for a number of weeks, but Murray has decided to hold off signing any agreements. [Click Here To Read More]

Very strange, but I'd like to hear Murray's side of it before jumping to conclusions. This article does seem to be cupping Hatton's balls somewhat.

With barker out of the picture at matchroom, Murray must want to jump ship.

Every time a fighter leaves Warren he talks about all the huge fights he offered to them that they turned down... I think Hatton promotions has taken a leaf from his book

I'm having my doubts with the GGG offer unless his visa issues have been resolved.
Sturm is a maybe as Sturm didn't sign with Macklin after having previously worked it out and Soliman announced this week that they were getting it off.

Quillin, guess he didn't want a title fight at home
