it was pretty bad when he got offered the title shot by GGG and turned it down. You must be pretty sure you can't beat the guy if you're turning down a shot at the title and I guess if the fighter doesn't believe in himself it's hard for his promoter to believe in him

When did Murray turn it down?

I always thought there was something fishy with those two offers. He said this when that Hatton press release came out.

        Also retweeted this.

That Hatton press release said that Murray had the choice to fight Golovkin in Manoco next, but that made no sense because Golovkin already had a reserved date at MSG.

Well lets see if now that he's not being held back by his promoter he could make the big fights. A match with GGG, rematch with Martinez, maybe Canelo.
I would love to see all those fights.

Hatton Promotions are in the dghouse. Theyve been losing fighters since they lost the Sky deal and havent put on a show in fookin ages. By all accounts Richard Poxon (director of boxing at Hatton Promotions) is a complete **** and impossible to work with. Murray had to leave them.

Why so much hate for the guy?

It's not hate for the guy. Golovkin fight offers where public and everyone including Martin knew about them. Pretending there was no offers is just funny. After "visa issues" preventing from fighting in US he had an offer to fight Golovkin in Monaco. Thing is he declined all the offers that came and he's fricking mandatory for Golovkin's belt.
However it may be the case that dealing with Hutton promotions wasn't to his liking so he didn't want to waist his title shots with this promoter. This remains to be seen - if now he's calling for Golovking as his mando than we know that he was not ducking. If not than it wasn't Hutton issue but pure duck.
In fact I don't blame him for that - I would duck Golovkin if I where Murrey But we'll have to wait and see what stance Martin is now when he's free from Hutton promotions.

This is close to my reading of the story - certainly Martin appeared genuine when claiming to have known nothing about the Nov 2 offer last year - yet Hatton appeared to, There's something badly wrong when a fighter isn't even consulted when a title fight offer is made, whether he wanted it or not.

I commented at the time (sept/oct last year) that title fights ain't something that can be counted on to keep coming around and that Martin needed to walk if Hatton was turning them when he believed he was ready

We probably need to wait for more details from Murray himslf to understand what happened to the Monte Carlo GGG proposals (or imdeed the Fletcher fight), but given what we do know it's hard to take the press release entirely at face value.

2 sides to a story. Moreover Hatton was worse when he was a fighter.

No proof just typical bandwagon comments, Murray didn't even know about the offer until it was revealed on twitter.

As mentioned, Rabchenko. He also has an excellent prospect in Ryan Burnett. Other fighters include Lucas Browne (although he has been making noises about leaving as well). He has a lot of young lads there, but the problem for Hatton has been getting TV dates for his shows. He has found it difficult since Sky ditched him. I'm not sure how this deal with Box Nation is working out.
