In the opening quarterfinal, 29-year old Chris Rudd (13-1, 8 KO), 135 ½, of Covington, Tennessee, scored a unanimous decision by way of viewer voting in a draw breaking seventh round over 29-year old Ghanaian Yakubu Amidu (21-5-2, 19 KO), 135, of Los Angeles, California. The taller Rudd, 5’11 to Amidu’s 5’8, did his best to work in combination and keep the more experienced man at bay in the early going. Rudd is from TN. So I'm rooting for him to win this thing. Good to see him get the win tonight. But he's gonna get smoked in the next round.

On another note. Haven't see anyone that's gonna be a future champion. But these have been some very interesting and entertaining fights. I'm definitely gonna be tuned in to the end of this thing.

There was a similar tourney in the early days of ESPN2. The original Boxcino produced the up and coming Acelino Frietas and Juan Carlos Candelo as winners.

I was wondering why Teddy Atlas scored the first two fights the way he did. I then realized it was because he had his head so far up Amidu's a$$ that he couldn't see. In the end I believe the Spanish speaking Russian wins the tournament.
