When Floyd announced he had the 6 fight contract with SHOWTiME I saw it playing out with Floyd fighting an o.k fighter, then big fight , ok fighter , big fight , etc. I thought his big fights would be Canelo, PAC , then Martinez ( in that order ) . Figured he'd end his career not only undefeated but also by challenging for and winning the middleweight championship , making history . But I do agree that this is a fight I'm surprised people haven't been asked for or even mentioned by us fans . Maybe if More casual fans knew about Martinez it would've been ?Comment

Oh my a "Red K"....whatever will I do. Lordy please God, not the dreaded "Red K"...he's owning on the internet...NOOOOOOOO!!!!!
So after you reply to my "Red K" comment, your post will be the last post in this thread and it will die the death it so richly deserves and you want to know why?
Because of the double standard where Floyd can fight King Kong but not Manny because he's small. Floyd is held to a different standard than Manny.
I like Manny, I think he a great fighter and you get more **** for your buck when you watch him fight over Floyd however most people judge these two boxer based on their personality and not their abilities.
We have weight classes for a reason, there is no reason why Floyd or Manny should be fighting at 159 lbs. In my opinion, they are better boxer than anyone between 154-160, however there abilities will be negated because of the size different.
Boxing is David vs. David, not David vs. Goliath.
Both are first ballot hall of famers and we should enjoy them while they are here because we are going to miss them when they are gone.Comment

Sergio Martinez is one of the very few fighters that has had a legitimate shot at fighting and defeating Mayweather in the last decade. For some reason, after Floyd agreed to fight Cotto at 154, no one pushed for Mayweather-Martinez. That would have been much bigger and better than Martinez-Chavez, but alas. There was no promotional or network issue at that time; Floyd was still with HBO and Martinez was with DiBella. This is perhaps the most underrated big fight that should have happened that will never happened in the last several years. Agree?
A year ago, i would agree with martinez being the biggest threat for floyd. but now i think sergio has lost too much after the injuries too keep up with floyd. but with a win in june. he would only have 1 more fight left on his hbo deal. it would make sense too leave hbo for canelo and floyd, so the fight may still be possible for 2015. doubtful but possibleComment

Possibly! Mayw defense and quick counters would serve him well. And tho he's smaller. He has a long arms for his size. Could possibly keep Martinez at the end of his stick. Martinez of course has the strength and work rate to get the job done.Comment
