Comments Thread For: Groves Trainer: Froch Doesn't Want To Be in This Fight!

Paddy Fitzpatrick, trainer of super middleweight contender George Groves, says IBF/WBA 'regular' champion Carl Froch was forced to take the rematch with his fighter. The date has been set for May 31, with a venue being worked out.

They met last August in a fight where Groves came very close to unseating the champion. After dropping Froch in the first round and then outfighting him in several others, Froch rallied in the later rounds and had Groves in trouble. The referee jumped in quick and stopped the fight. Groves was furious, claiming a quick stoppage, and filed a protest with the IBF. The sanctioning body agreed with his complaint and ordered a rematch.

Froch underestimated Groves in the first fight but he won't make that mistake again.
I think Froch's greater strength and stamina will get to Groves again. But if it goes the distance, they could be very close on points by the end.

Easily my current favourite feud in boxing today! This fight is going to have fireworks again. These two HAAAAAAAAAATE each other with a passion. This fight has the intensity of one million Mayweather die hards + one million Pacquiao die hards in a 300 style war-ground scattered with maces, axes and broad swords!

They didn't fight in August, it was November. Jeez, these articles need proof read.

Froch was forced to either rematch or vacate by the IBF, I seriously doubt he wanted the rematch. I think Groves takes the rematch he knows he can hurt The Cobra and if he is a bit more economical with his punches I fancy him by late KO I think in the first fight Groves was starting to gas out he either needs to better condition himself or manage his work rate in the fight.

But they will be best of friends when they retire, I remember Eubank and Benn hatting each other but now hug and smile and are friendly. When you make a ton of money with each other and basically business partners you forget the acting while you were fighting. Its acting really.

But im sure Froch didn't want the fight with Groves, hed prefer a rematch with Ward or GGG or whoever rather going over old ground with someone he beat.
But the controvery and to shut up Groves, he does want it.

That's a good natural comparison, this is the biggest British SMW rivalry since that epic pair and it'll be interesting to see if they eventually make peace too.

Considering them all, there was probably more hatred from Benn to Eubank but I think that's because Eubank's psyche was to appear absolutely smarter, and of better class than all his opponents, especially Benn. This really riled a more working class Benn, to which Eubank was then more provocative with it for a psychological edge. It only enhanced Benn imo though.

I think there's less acting between Froch & Groves. Groves hasn't misunderstood Carl's arrogance like that of Eubank as a show. Froch is that persona, is less humble than Eubank in reality. Groves is a little like an annoying school kid with amateurish yet hilarious bant & intensity.

It's a more natural personality conflict IMO, so I'm not sure we'll ever see them truly be as friendly as Eubank and Benn. Plus the those two largely came together from a joint suffering of guilt out of the Watson then Mclellan sad outcomes.

More cringe-worthy diatribe from the groves camp.
