  • Why are so many people so high on Rigo?

I mean he is 13-0 with 8 ko's which is good, but not great.

I have not been overly impressed with Rigo, sans the Donaire fight.

Rigo won that fight and looked pretty good. He was down on the canvas and got back up. Donaire wasn't busy enough and Rigo gave him a boxing lesson.

    BUT...

I have also watched Rigo lose to Ricardo Cordoba and hang on for dear life in that fight. He was given a SD win. I scored the fight for Cordoba.

I mean Casey and Rico Ramos are solid pros but not elite or upper world class by any means. Maroquin and Abeko are good good B level pros but they've lost every step-up fight that they have had.

Fighting solid guys is good/very good...but not top 12-15 P4P good.

Rigo may become a top 10 p4p guy in the next year or two. He has good skills, great amateur backround, and shows flashes of brilliance. But alas, he is not a tv friendly fighter (?yet) and will have a hard time getting the big fights that he needs to prove his "greatness" against these fighters without the big tv money.

What is your opinion of Rigo?

    Top 10 P4P?
    Top 15 P4P?
Somewhere inside the Top 20 P4P?

He's the most skilled boxer right now man, get used to it. He'll school every single one of his opponents from 118 to 122.

As far as Agbeko losing every step up fight, that's utter BS. He beat up Vic when darchinyan thought Agbeko was the easiest way to a bantam title. He really beat Mares in the first fight and was robbed and pretty much had his balls destroyed. We can argue about the first Perez fight which I though he really won, and then he re matched him to then beat him clearly.
He's only clearly lost to the very best, Mares at 118 and Rigo at 122.

Rigo made a dude like Agbeko who throws over 1000 punches per fight gun shy. He's a masterful technician and he's considered too good for his own good. Just like Sweet Pea once was.

P4p #3 spot is debatable between Rigo and Bradley. As fas as skill goes he's definitely in the top 3 with Floyd and Ward

He had a great amateur career on top of having a good pro one. Is he boring? Sure in some fights he is but that's his style.

He's a brilliant technical fighter. Never off balance, never out of position, always in control of range, always in a position to counter punch. On top of all that he hits hard enough to make people shell up. It's hard to imagine anyone in his weight range beating him.
