Next year, definitely. All they have to do is keep winning. If Golovkin gets to fight Martinez and beats him, it's a guarantee. Both sides know it.

At this point, Ward genuinely outboxes GGG. Bigger, stronger and faster. Doesn't mean I don't want to see the fight and don't give Golovkin a chance. I just think he really does need to face the elite first. And I have no doubt he wants to. I hope he gets his shot this year because he deserves it.

Its not about GGG level of competition its about how many viewers he's commanding compared to Ward. You have a few potentially great fighters out there but they still can't draw flies to shyt, and that includes Ward who rarely fights anywhere outside his home state.. GGG internationally is just as popular as Ward IMO

I'm really more intrigued by GGG vs Lara if possible

Well, there's not many A-League Boxers in MW right now. Sergio, Sturm(?), Murray(?).

Lol, where did you get that info? A fight with Lara is IMPOSSIBLE. As long as HBO isn't working with Golden Boy the fight CAN NOT be made. This isn't a joke by HBO, they kicked Adrien Broner off their network bc he's with GB and Broner was one of their top 2 draws. Do you really think they are itching to work with them for an Erislandy Lara fight?? The guy is a zero in terms of TV ratings. Jeez some people have no sense when it comes to hating on fighters

Anyway if Ward is willing to go down to 160, I think the fight could be made very quickly. As it is GGG has lots of unfinished business at MW.
Neither fighter is a big draw - GGG certainly isn't a star or a bigger draw than Ward. Maybe in the future but not now.

GGG gets great ratings but posters forget he fights in the theatre at MSG-5,000 fans not MSG arena like cotto-22,000 fans. There is a difference.

I reckon GGG is a bigger star worldwide than Ward. In the US alone they might be equal for what I know.

100%. I have said for years the only person who could beat Ward is Dirrell..
