  • Comments Thread For: Ward's Trainer: Can Golovkin Do That With The A-League?

The anticipation is quickly building for a potential match between two of the most dominant fighters in the sport, WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward (27-0, 14KOs) and IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (29-0, 26KOs). Both fighters are being showcased on HBO, and the network is very interested in televising a high profile fight between the two unbeaten champions.

Hunter is right about the level of competition. Ward has fought a listers across the board. GGG would have to fight at least 6 guys that would even up to Wards fight with Bika. Loeffler just turned down a fight with Lara. So much for anytime anywhere.

Hes totally right. Hope GGG steps it up, hes on the verge of become the next PPV star if he starts beating on real opponents. Cause so far the competition has been so so.

if the fight ever happens it should be at a catch weight, GGG is a 160lb fighter and Ward is 168lb fighter. GGG still have unfinished business at 160 and Ward got Dawson to come down for him. Its about time Ward made some sacrifices he doesn't seem keen to fight at light heavy against the like of Stevenson and Kovalev, GGG is probably the bigger attraction considering his style so if Ward should give something up if GGG is going to make concessions in his purse. GGG ducking Lara is pretty poor to be honest it could have dispelled some of the criticism surrounding him struggling with technical boxers. I don't know how much of it is down to networks tho. I wish fights could be make then networks bid on the right to show the fights rather than all this exclusive bs it robs the fans of what they want to see

Hunter is right about the level of opposition, but fails to address who is the bigger draw.

Anyway if Ward is willing to go down to 160, I think the fight could be made very quickly. As it is GGG has lots of unfinished business at MW.

If he's asking about the "A" league at middleweight, then yes, I think GGG can KO Sergio, Quillin, Sturm and Murray.

Although, he is right about middleweight being weaker than 168 during the Super Six, so GGG might also need a win over a solid smw to tie up with Ward.

if soggy were ever fool enough to step into the ring with Triple GGG he would likely be knocked into a coma from which he never would recover

Still waiting to hear a response from team GGG to Lara calling him out. That's a must see fight.

No one can beat Ward at the moment apart from Andre Dirrell because of his reflexes and difficult style. Ward's timing is still spot on. Only age will beat him, when his fitness gets called into question and his reflexes are not as good. People underestimate him but that guy is really good.
