Comments Thread For: Mayweather Sr: If Maidana Wins, Broner's Game is Over

Adrien Broner has promised to get revenge on WBA welterweight champion Marcos Maidana, after suffering an upset twelve round unanimous decision to the Argentine puncher last December at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Broner, who went down twice in the contest, exercised his option for a rematch clause.

A rematch was scheduled for April, but pushed back to a later date. Floyd Mayweather Sr., father and trainer of pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr., would rather see Broner take at least tune-ups before a Maidana rematch.

i would agree. godspeed khan, i hope you have inserted several titanium plates into the jaw. then again, it didn't work for ortiz so it may fail for khan.

joke fight, mayweather himself will probably enter the ring wearing one of khan's wifes veils in shame

Floyd Sr. is probably right about Broner. I think its a huge mistake to take on Maidana again so soon. Broner says he can do it all, but why didn't he that night? He never tried to box, just go toe to toe all night.

Mayweather sr telling it the way it is. Truth is Broner was not ready for Maidana. He struggled against Malignaggi and he really needs a few fights against bums to be able to face Maidana. He doesnt carry the power at 147 but gets hit by the guys. Broner has always relied more on his power because he's hittable. Since that power in not there at 147 he will be cannon fodder for many guys unless he improves his defence and movement which will be difficult because he's heavily built.

Well I don't think it's necessarily over if Broner loses again to Maidana, he can always go down to 140. I'm sure that jr welt fighters like Danny Garcia, Provodnikov, Matthyse will welcome him with open arms.

Broner has to have his feet set to throw and land meaningful punches! He will never be one of the best!!! All these other elite cats can dance while landing punches.

Well he wouldn't be a favourite in the rematch, and even if he loses he can alway go down to 140 and rebuild there, as much as I don't rate Broner he can alway rebuild himself since he still "yung doe" and to be honest I give him credit for wanting to go in straight.

hes right and broner shouldn't rush the rematch so fast, but if khan wins the contest then its prob gonna happen sooner than later
