Broner is a very good all around athlete that appears to get better at everything the more he tries it so given a second try I think he can beat Maidana. He really just got caught early and didn't fully recover until it was too late. The guys Broner was sparring leading up to the fight were nothing like Maidana also so he really didn't know what to expect, by now he's watched the fight and seen his (quite frankly silly) mistakes and so I'd be really surprised If Broner got dominated like he did for a 2nd time whether it's win loss or draw

He does need a couple of tuneup. Learn how to move that cheese block head and move those feet. If he can do that and be confident about it, I favor him to beat Maidana. If he goes str8 for Maidana, learn all that stuff in training. 1st time he gets hit he's going back to what he is used to. I mean he's never going to be the best at 147 that's easily seen. Gavin F----n Reece was connecting with left hooks any time he wanted to, same with Paulie. Good luck to him but I do believe believed in his own hype and that attitude is treacherous.

The Racket Squad: Young And In The Way
With Adrian, It's a question of character, not skill.
The kid needs to grow up first in as well as out of the ring.
The Broner that split on his fans last Dec. 14 cannot possibly turn a page in a book so poorly written so fast.
He is not a politician and he's not a Welterweight.
Should he meet Marcos again, Mr. Maidana will prove these points and reduce him to a footnote.

I agree that AB shouldn't fool with the rematch, but for different reasons. Regardless of how many of these ****** muthaf.uckas on here like to believe. The first fight wasn't a white wash. It was a very grueling fight for both. With the major difference being AB was unable to deal with Chino's power and Chino being able to eat AB's power. Can he improve? Possibily. But eventually, he's gonna get tagged. If he can deal with it this time around, he'll be fine. If not, we're probably looking at a replay of the first fight.
My reasoning for not thinking a rematch is necessary is because even if he wins, what does it mean. Maidana is a fringe welterweight. So even if AB wins, all it does is re-establishes him as a fringe welterweight. And the reality is, he's not a welterweight. And he's not gonna be successful in that division. To me, it would just make so much more sense to drop down to 40 and fight Peterson on Floyd's May undercard. If he wins that fight, it would set up a huge showdown with Garcia later in the year.
At day's end, kudos to the kid for wanting to jump back on the horse when he doesn't have to. As a fan of his, I'd like to believe its competitiveness and pride that's pushing him to do it. But I think a major part of it is him still having visions of being boxing's next superstar. And that mindset is partly the reason why his career is currently in the situation its in. Good luck to him. But as long as being a star is more important to him than being a good fighter, he's gonna continue to have setback. I don't know what his ceiling is as a fighter. But if he keeps making the decisions he's making. He's on the road to being this era's Ricardo Mayorga. A gateskeeper for up-n-comers and a tune-up for top fighters. And he'll make a good living doing that because he's capable of turning any fight and any promotion an event with his mouth and antics, much like Mayorga.

He had all fight to adjust and kept getting tagged with that left hook and overhand right all night long. The fact that your prepared and work hard doesn't guarantee success. Broners style will never beat Maidana he would have to completely change his game plan where he's using a lot more movement and letting his hands to before Maidanc.

To have a chance of winning a rematch, he has to learn footwork, side to side, in and out, learning to turn. His footwork is really bad. He also has to prove that he underestimated Maidana by overconfidence, lack of focus with so many other outside ring distractions and go back to the basics and tear off the layers of arrogant persona and his superstar lifestyle that does not fit his reality. I wouldn't pick him in a rematch but winning is not impossible. It would take better movement, defense, and focus. He has to learn footwork overnight and I don't see that. Very few boxers can change overnight. Barrera became a Boxer and Pac made changes. Gatti even showed boxing improvements. But I don't see that with Broner, not dramatic improvement.Last edited by richardt; 02-09-2014, 01:05 PM.
