Guillermo Rigondeaux didn't deserve a title shot so soon, nor does Vasyl Lomachenko. Just because they got title shots doesn't mean Gary Russell Jr. should too. Two wrongs don't make a right.

I like Russell a LOT! Great skills, speed, power, you name it. I cant say enough good things about him. But for whatever reasons, he turned down Billy Dib when Dib was a champ, he turned down Louis Franco in an eliminator, and then Ponce. This sht has gotten old, fast.

Well he did beat the interim WBA champion in Ricardo Cardoba to get the shot at the full WBA champion Rico Ramos. That and the proper promoter behind him, plus his Olpympic credentials helped him big time. I think it was best to step up the competition quickly. He's 33 not in his early 20's where he can take his time and build himself up.

Did not read most of the article and am not looking up who he has fought, his name is Clive which means he probably can't fight.

Gary Russell is a bad stylistic matchup for Jhonny Gonzalez. Too risky, better to fight Clive Atwell instead while he's waiting for the Mares rematch.
