        ***8220;Honestly, it was speed, man. The speed really got to me. It was really a factor. I had some guys in sparring with speed but this guy had tremendous speed,***8221; said Rios. ***8220;I think also too it had to do with the southpaw [style]. I hadn***8217;t fought a southpaw in a really long time. I was never used to a southpaw until Pacquiao. So sparring southpaws in the gym, they weren***8217;t as great a southpaw as [Pacquiao]. He***8217;s not only a unique southpaw but [the most] awkward southpaw out there and that what was had a lot to do with it.***8221;

        ***8220;Because honestly, after the second round, I got frustrated I just, like***8230;once you get mind-****ed in a fight, you lose the fight. You lose everything you have to do. You forget about the game plan; you forget about everything because you***8217;re mind-****ed. I was just like stuck, so that***8217;s what happened,***8221; explained Rios. ***8220;We had a great game plan going in. I was executing it in the gym. I was doing everything. I was doing a great job. Then all of a sudden and I get to the fight and we were doing great out there.

        And then the second round, I was just totally mind-****ed. I just, it just seemed like everything I***8217;d throw, I was going to get countered. Every time I tried to do something, I was going to get caught. I really got mind-****ed. It***8217;s just one of those things. I fought one of the best southpaws in the world and not just a southpaw but one who is one of the best in the world, so **** it.***8221;

        Tyson: "Everyone has a plan until you get hit." -this must be what Rios was explaining. All goes out the window when a fighter is to conscious to not get hit.
        I told everyone Rios was gun shy. After the second round he was in survival mode.

          Relax guys this was just Rios. >__>... I mean... Did anyone think he was going to look good? I remember the Abril and Pac fights thinking if he only had about..3 more arms and 20 extra inches of reach he'd put up a better fight. Pac would have whupped Ariza and Rios at the same time with his LEFT arm amputated. Rios is like a pretty good highschool pitcher. Pac is like Randy Johnson

          I remember an interview a while back where they asked Rios if hed fight Pac and he said something like "Hed probably beat me but id still fight him". Dude was in survival mode once the fight was signed.

            Rios is mind ****ing Pac's fans and Pacquiao right now. Comes with the territory of being a victorious warrior -- even your enemies talk legendary stuff about you.

              I have a new respect for Rios for giving Pacquiao credit and making no excuses. I thought Pacquiao's performance was outstanding. He was landing combinations of 4 punches in a row all landing clean with no punches landed by Rios. Rios is tough and hits hard but he is not much of a boxer. Still I don't think any other fighter could have done to Rios what Pacquiao did. Pacquiao pitched a shutout to a world class fighter. Bradley, you're next.

                  Yeah I remember this bold part too, Rios has done the right thing though by admitting he wasn't there mentally after a while, we could all see it after all. What bothers me is that he doesn't factor Manny's power into his loss despite the fact he was stunned a good few times and was visibly gun shy, not that it matters, just something that he bothered me with post-fight...Especially when you consider the fact he said that in the interview a while ago.

                    Obviously Rios was bothered enough, or else he would have just walked him down. So what if a guy is catching you with counters if you don't feel them.

                    So yeah, he felt enough power to think twice about trying to walk him down or walk right through him. Rios is a tough guy, though. That's his image. I think he pretty much has to say that he didn't feel ****. Par for the course for Bam Bam. That said, I credit him a lot for not being a b*tch and making excuses. He manned up and accepted the loss.

                    A **** ton of boxers out there could learn a lot from him in that regard.

                      Yeah man this is what I mean, if a guy is fast but his shots don't actually affect you, you could walk through it...Rios didn't as we all saw. But yeah, that aside you are right it is just his image. All that talk form the Face Off like 'Ill smile coz you hit like a b1tch' and 'getting hit is better than sex for me' would have lost a whole lot of meaning...But still I agree he deserves respect for simply facing up to not being up to it mentally once he was hit...Rare to hear a boxer face up to that especially one as proud as Rios.
