Cotto's legacy after Martinez

What is Cotto doing again? Martinez would be a good win for him but it doesn't make his losses go away. Cotto is past prime and Martinez is way past prime. I heard the fight is going to be at a catchweight of 159 so even if he wins he didn't win the true 160 pound title. A win over Martinez would help his legacy and he would become more overrated than he already is.

He was considered a heavy underdog against Carlos Quintana against whom he claimed the WBA championship and defended it against Judah, Mosley & Margarito (the last two of these being fights Floyd Mayweather Jr blatantly steered away from). Cotto deserves credit for stepping up.
The Hands of Plaster incident, and Margarito's subsequent conviction for cheating adds a great cloud of su****ion to the outcome of their first fight. And for vindication, Cotto beat Margarito in their highly anticipated rematch - a fight which many predicted would be the replay of the first - well no, because Cotto rewrote history, and Margarito's already damaged eye.
The win over a 2007 Shane Mosley is a great win. Especially given the fact that Mosley becomes the lineal welterweight championship after losing to Cotto.
The Clottey win was another good win. It was close but the consensus has it that Cotto was able to outbox Clottey in the last couple of rounds, and with addition to a 10-8 round, Cotto got the nod. It must be highlighted that this really was a welterweight unification bout - only Clottey had to vacate his title as the deal wasn't signed in time.
In defence of Cotto, he had no trainer against Pacquiao. He literally trained himself with no input of tactics or strategy from a great trainer's perspective. In fact, it's interesting to hear of how Roach was surprised at Cotto's lack of knowledge in some key fundamentals. Roach feels Cotto is rejuvenating, and with the addition of a new training program and a strategic tactical plan in place for Martinez, let's see what happens.

A good solid fighter who lost most of his big fights.

In consideration to your absurdity, here are Cotto's notable wins:
Torres: undefeated, came back to claim 140 championship
Malignaggi: undefeated, continued to claim championships at 140 & 147
Maussa: undefeated, came back to claim championship at 140
Quintana: undefeated, reclaimed championship by beating Paul Williams
Judah: came back claim championship at 140
Mosley: became THE welterweight champion after Cotto loss
N'dou: came back to win a championship
Clottey: IBF champion, continues his career
Foreman: undefeated champion
Not to forget he beat former champions like Cesar Bazan & Corley, Mayorga.
He was cheated by Margarito the first time round but avenged the loss in the highly anticipated rematch.
Not many of today's boxers can boast a win over a 2007 version of Mosley.

Anyway, we can agree to disagree. If your of the opinion that Cotto simply lost all of his big fights - then that's your opinion. I take it even lighter given the fact you apparently give Margarito - a convicted cheater - the benefit of the doubt. I won't sit here and listen to you being a megaphone for fraud.
Cotto has a chance to elevate his championship record to 18-4 whilst claiming the lineal middleweight crown making him Puerto Rico's first 4-division champion.
In consideration to the fact that by the time they fight, Martinez will have been inactive for the last 18-months or so. We'll see how this fancy Dan does against a rejuvenated Freddie Roach version of Cotto.

Cotto is much bigger than Floyd and was never really a 140 pounder anyways. He was a WE fighting there. He was 157 on fight not for 140 pound fights while Floyd even now is only 150 but fighting at 154. Please stop hating
And how do you know how much floyd weighs on fight night?
Does he text you ? Last ibheard , he doesnt weigh in on fight night.
He could be 155 for all you know. Floyd is built in the legs
